SliTaz. Plenty of features (good web browser, text editor, etc.), low RAM usage (roughly 20 MB on idle), and extremely small download (10 MB). I would go with the SliTaz cooking, and not the current stable release.
One thing I've never gotten with OS's like that, is that you can't install them onto a hard drive. Or can you? And how do you save settings? And how do you store files?

DSL has a poor installer, but it works.

Or can you store files on the remaining 670mb on the disc and then save it on and take the disc to another computer and use it? Redhat 9
Redhat 9 is good and fast, but the kernel is outdated. You would be better off installing a modern light distribution.
Guys - I already have Xubuntu installed. Stop bumping.
We've turned it into a discussion thread though. You must be new to H&S, we do that with every thread.

crunchbang works great on oldies i got an ol' chunker P3 with 128 MB of ram and crunchbang works just fine, a bit slow opening some things like firefox, but other than that, not too bad
