I'm convinced ATI/AMD is a joke after trying to get support for my Radeon HD 5770 - Hardware & Software

How did you get that card? Were you a reviewer, Did you got it from a reviewer or you got it from a prebuilt? Or you have a prebuilt?

And that GPU design is used by ONE company, I am bloody well positive you can find out who as it was one of the first designs that was shown when the 5xxx series was announced.
