Honestly I prefer the MX1100 for general use over the 518
I had been planning on getting one for the longest time, and was going to spend my christmas money on it. But it Best Buy had the G500 on sale for $30, so I got it instead.
The only reason I would trade would be for the side buttons on the 518, seem allot easier to use than on the 500. Maybe I'm just not used to clicking side buttons yet :/
I love this mouse. I've had it for at least a year and it's never failed me. I still need to figure out what to do with the extra button, though.

I've always used wireless mice for gaming - They work perfectly fine.
I had the same mouse I loved it mine was modded though (weight cartridge from a G5, Red LED's on the inside and steelseries mouse skates and grip tape)
