I'm thinking of grabbing this over the current 5750. Will I need to upgrade my PSU if I do?
Also, I noticed the memory I selected is rated at DDR3 1600, whereas the motherboard is rated for DDR3 2200/1333/1066/800. Is this a problem?
Both are fine and no changes need to be made.

PSU is fine. RAM and motherboard are also good to go.
Not to derail the current build, but just to take a look, I threw together a $1000 build using a Phenom II and 4890, using the same ram, monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Saving the money on the processor/motherboard enables a better video card.

AMD is a cheaper alternative to Intel, but it is of course, a matter of preference.
I am perfectly content with my 3ghz AMD dual that cost $60.

you almost did really good but then I saw a Fatal1ty PSU and an ASRock motherboard.

ASRock isn't bad. They're great for budget builds.

Replace the Cooler Master case with a Rosewill Blackbone.

Done, I also fixed the PSU, good call buttsex, I'm not sure why I threw the OCZ in there, lol. I see no problem with Asrock, I am using one similar to the one in the build in my Micro atx.
Get a 4890, they are the same price and perform better
I'm really uncomfortable going with that XFX 4890. Not only are the reviews mixed for it, but I've had bad experiences with XFX in the past: My 9600 GT had some parts on it pop/explode after a few months, even with good ventilation. Apparently, this one has the same issues.

the point is you can ditch the overpriced PSU and get a midrange motherboard with the money you save.

Don't get me wrong, OCZ is a great brand. Just that particular PSU is maximum rice for maximum price.
And I don't like asrock boards because they don't overclock well. Not something your average user has to worry about, but a large number of gamers are also overclockers.

I like to get the right priced stuff as much as the next guy, but I thought that the Fatal1ty power supply wasn't all that bad for the price, it was more efficient and had a single 12V rail compared to the others in that range.

OP, since you seem apprehensive about the 4890, if you don't mind a performance cut, you could get this Asus 4870 for cheaper, granted, if you don't mind the odd cooler and Yellow DVI port. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121376&cm_re=4870-_-14-121-376-_-Product
Also if you feel that you want a sturdier board for overclocking (it is your money after all, I just default to what works and is cheap) I could snag a different board. I made sure the build I did stayed in your original price range of your parts giving the best bang/buck
If there is one thing you should go Overpriced with it is the Powersupply, always spend the extra 10quid on getting better quality.
ASRock is fine.

There is a difference between overpriced and overkill. That PSU he had was about as good as your average $40 PSU with the same amount of power.
Its just tried to do one of them fake virus scans on me... dont go there
It isn't doing that to me.

Might as well get a 5770, same price, same performance, but it has DX11.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102864
Plus it doesn't look silly.

No way. 4890s are ahead of the 5770s by a good amount of frames.
He was talking about getting a 4870, the 4890 performs awesomely.
4870 is old and overpriced.
4890 is a niace card for the money.

Ahh sorry. Bad reading on my part.
Yeah you guys are right, he should get the 4890, but if he really doesn't want to, a better step down would be the 5770.

It'll be gone in a few hours. Although one time, I started a battle station thread and it lasted 15 hours. It was on the first page pretty consistently the whole time.

The 4870 isn't overpriced, it performs as well as a 5770, except it doesn't have DX11. It costs the same.
