Mission Control is basically Exposé with a few updates, so if anything you're a little late. And that Ubuntu argument with Launchpad, uhh, they look completely different.
Try again.

Due to compatability with older software.. I don't see this happening anytime soon.
Ever notice System32 is still the "root" due to compatibility... even on 64b systems, the system64 is sysWOW64. or something of that nature.

WoW is Windows on Windows or something like that. You never actually get a 64-Bit OS it seems, just something that can use 64-Bit when told to.

I don't think me saying that they're each as simple and usable for general use as the others means messing around in the system32 folder. navigating in Windows is messy as hell, but it's just as messy in the others for newcomers I can guarantee you that. I can still get lost in Ubuntu or Red hat on my way around. but that's due to limited use versus using Windows since the age of 4 and Mac OS since the age of 14.

They could use links to point to an alternate directory. Kind of like how WinSxS works.

Windows XP 64-bit Edition and Server 2003 for ia64 were full 64-bit.

Yeah, WoW is Windows on Windows. Its been there for quite sometime. Theres a WoW for 16bit applications too.
I do think windows needs to release a seperate OS, with hit features.. hope it forces people to reprogram their shit to work on the new OS.

You'd probably see those features recreated for the "mainstream" Windows and that separate one just fall off the face of the earth.
Ballmer had just stated not to long ago that Windows 8 was their riskiest product, perhaps they're doing something really big/good with it.
Like making a stable system and not piling shit onto a relic, then gold plating it. Even though it's good to look at and very expensive, and does what it does well, it's still gold plated shit.

Not a diss on windows, more on the way Microsoft develops.

I do like how windows is following a number naming scheme.
Its fun knowing Windows is only on Version 7.
But maybe win8 may be a big surprise.. if its a huge overhaul, it might not be a popular hit in Microsofts cash cow; enterprises.

Essentially what happened to Vista being an overhaul.
How fun look at the windows superbar compared to osx. Look at dos compaired to unix people have been doing this since the beginning of time. It's apple competing to be sure other operating systems don't get ahead.
Ubuntu should be flattered apple thinks they need to compete against their free os.
I don't wanna use Windows when i have to clean it up for everyone all the time. It's by far the fastest system to become bloated and disobedient in the hands of normal people and it's pissing me off. Most laptops sold today come with so much bloatware... it's astronomical. At least Mac doesn't come with that and at least Ubuntu is a free alternative that enables me to format these bloated laptops. (am cleaning one now for my sister... the hard way, i want her to be able to play her games.).
Inb4 "it won't be bloated if you know your shit" well, no shit Sherlock. but 90% of computer users know jackshit about them. If the manufacturers would stop installing their spamware, i might reconsider but at the moment i'm far to pissed. But that's just my opinion and experiences.
It's worth a mention that there's no problems when you just go barebones Windows without the bloatware from resellers, manufacturers and god knows who and we all know this. Nothing better than a fresh shiny install. But we do not have a win 7 copy around.
Well ubuntu isn't very good for stupid people either.

I don't hate the company... I hate the cult around it and the people in charge of the company who promote the cult. I don't hate poor Tommy working in the Apple store in Amsterdam.
I don't hate apple the company or the people around the company.
I hate Jobs. I respect him, he's a great business man. I hate the way he got to the top. Fucking over friends, family, people he doesn't know. Stealing code (see xerox case) and brainwashing customers.
I can guarantee that the only reason Apple isn't the #1 company in the computing industry is because they limit their operating system to their own computers. Otherwise, Apple and Microsoft's roles would be flipped around today. Linux would be nothing, BSD nothing. OS/2 would probably never happen.

I don't think Apple wants to compete with Ubuntu, just get it's features. I wouldn't be flattered at all.

Gates didn't do it. Sure he scammed a few people but he took his loved ones to the top with him.
also about the squashed icons thing, that particular workstation used a monitor that didn't have perfectly square pixels. it looked fine on the system itself, just looks like ass virtualized.

It wasn't that hard for Gates because during that time he had little to no competition. Apple actually has PC as their biggest competitor, thus more effort is required.
apple started less than a year after microsoft was founded, by older people with more business experience.

Brainwashing customers LOL?
I'm glad you know something about their business plan that they don't.
LOL, Ubuntu ripped off those features from the iPhone.
I challenge anyone here to name one end-user feature that Linux has innovated, ever.
