Give Youtube Downloader a try. http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/ There's an option on that to convert a file on your HDD into an MP4 the iPod will play. I use it all the time for my PSP.
John stop being mean to people. Go and learn some manners.
sony vegas
sony vegas
Why use Vegas to convert to iPod format?
it's a movie, around 1.5GB i think. already in MP4 format.
SUPER works pretty well. The web site is very user-unfriendly when it comes to finding the download link though. It needs a design overhaul badly. http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
This

Click! -Click here to download SUPER! Then it finally downloads.

Site's design is crappy, true, but so is the GUI of the app. I would not recommend SUPER to the OP who is (at least seams to be) new to converting. And keeping in mind he just wants iPod format and not anything more, an easier to use and more automated in settings app would be better. BTW, I insist on the one I recommended before...
:raise: Try it?
if it's an MP4 that's not even supported by iTunes there's no way of getting it in there, and even then it's common for that to not even be an option
[img_thumb]http://truidia.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Untitled.png[/img_thumb] :raise: Try it?
Is this a new feature in a recent version of itunes or something? I've never noticed it
is it often that you look? because it's been in there since at least v7, most likely earlier
is it often that you look? because it's been in there since at least v7, most likely earlier
I don't like iTunes, I don't even use it for content/playlist management
hey maybe that's why you've never noticed it
hey maybe that's why you've never noticed it
No way.
I used to use videora ipod converter, took a while, but worked great every time. I haven't used it in years though.

You could try an AVS Video Converter.Or sometimes,do you notice the youtube downloader has a video converter as well? Well, even if it's not a file downloaded from youtube,it works as well.(Well not 100% all mp4 files, lets say about 7/10 files can be converted. The rest will pop up an error saying "missing codec or unsupported parameters") Well, just give it a try. No harm done.
SUPER, Handbrake, or if you're super-hardcore you can use ffmpeg.
