• What to do with an old Wii?

I asked in general questions without any luck but maybe one of you guys will know from experience: I want to connect my N64 and maybe my Wii to my U2311H. It has displayport, dvi, and vga inputs. I'd prefer to use the VGA but anything is fine. I plan to connect the audio out from the consoles to my speakers/dac. What type of cable do I need? Would this work or does it need to be an active adapter? I understand that VGA doesn't transmit audio but I do not plan on transmitting audio to my U2311H, just the video. What about for component video? Can I still use that adapter or do I need an active one?
you could try those n64 to usb adapters. cheap as hell on ebay.
I'll stick with the gamecube -> n64 ones because it's guaranteed to work but thanks anyways.
Hold off on selling for a while. Right now everyone is trying to flog their unwanted Christmas presents, causing a slight dip in prices. It's a shame you didn't sell it right before Christmas, when the opposite happens.
For now you can use the Wiimote and nunchuck to play half life 2. There's a surprisingly fun Half Life 2 mod that lets you play through the whole series of games with the Wiimote. Also, look into the hombrew channel like everyone else said. There's some cool stuff you can do with it.

Smash it with a sledgehammer.
Install Homebrew Channel, mplayer and the libs needed for DVD playback.
I could never get this to work.
Install Homebrew Channel, mplayer and the libs needed for DVD playback.
MPlayer CE can talk to the DVD drive directly since r592 if you have the latest HBC. It's not optimal but it works.
Most Wii games/homebrew don't work with USB controllers AFAIK.
There's no support for USB gamepads in libogc. Of course, they'll work with Linux but that's a pain to use.
I could never get this to work.
Make sure your unit isn't too new.
I got the thing around launch. I'm not gonna really waste any more time on it, I don't think the ends justify the means.
Are Release Wii's safe for installing homebrew channel on? I got a release wii.
well you don't really need a wii to play half life 2, just the controller i wonder how much i could sell my launch year wii for.
You need a sensor bar as well, and unless you got one of those wireless ones, you'll need the wii to be on to power the sensor bar you already own.
You need a sensor bar as well, and unless you got one of those wireless ones, you'll need the wii to be on to power the sensor bar you already own.
the sensor bar isn't anything special, just some IR LEDs and power there are guides on how to make your own cheaply i imagine you could even find a way to power the official sensor bar without the wii if you wanted
Homebrew.
Use the motion controls to play PC games.
I believe you can make a sensor bar out of a cucumber. I may be mistake, maybe some other fruit or vegetable.
