Yeh but 2x5870 is better than 2x295 right??? Anyway stick with what youve got, if you have some weird need to get something better just hybrid bridge your 295 with a lower nvidia card, like a 260 But that would be silly :>

But I dont really know about dual cards. GTX 295 has quite a high memory bandwidth (896-bit,damn). And ATI has DX 11 and Eyefinity. So, IMO, performance wise, Nvidia wins but feature wise( DX11, eyefinity, power saver, quiet, cooler), ATI wins. Thats just my opinion anyhow.
Only if your display supports it. that may sound like a stupid statement but my display only supports 720p.
Which is the whole point... you're not going to be playing with a GTX 295 at 1280x720. [editline]01:00AM[/editline] The GTX 295 is better with performance, so everyone making the price:performance and power consumption remarks are idiots. He already has the card, it's a downgrade to buy a 5870. [editline]01:01AM[/editline]
Yeh but 2x5870 is better than 2x295 right??? [editline]01:01AM[/editline]
Watch Nvidia do the same shit with the 3xx series as they did with the 9xxx series. It's going to be a bunch of rebranded crap, complete with woodscrews. By the way, I've been meaning to replace all the screws in my 9800 GT with woodscrews. [editline]11:10PM[/editline] I already did it with an 8400 GS.
ITT: fanboy.

That by no means makes any of us stupid.
Ok, lets pay $400 to buy an inferior card and lose performance.
Da fuck? No one told him to buy a 5870.
No one told him to buy one. The GTX 295 is better by such a small amount really tbh, if you are looking to buy a high end one get a 5870, or if you have the money for a 295, a 5970, im not so good with prices of the top of my head for a 295
I'm not going to buy another card anyway. I just wanted to know which is a better card, thats it. Since some of you guys said the GTX 295 is better (in performance wise), so I'll just put up with it and see how thing goes until the 3xx series is out. Lets just hope the price:performance is worth it. I'm not a fanboy of either ATI or Nvidia. They are both good actually. ATI (feature) and Nvidia (performance). But I bought the Nvidia instead because it was the most powerful card a year ago. Maybe not now. If it was ATI, I would get that instead. :/

5870 is slower right now (I think?) But in the future it will get faster by drivers
5870 is slower right now (I think?) But in the future it will get faster by drivers
are you talking about clock speeds here? because i dont think they will.
are you talking about clock speeds here? because i dont think they will.
Naw, usually once the drivers mature the card performs better. Though I think it's about as good as it's going to get at this point.
I'm personally holding out for the Fermi cards from nVidia, although I highly doubt I'll be able to actually keep them cool.

I don't get why people think that hot cards are going to melt into themselves. They're built to handle the heat, no matter the air flow.
