No SD slot disappoints me and having no Bluetooth.
Also is it worth getting the Xoom right now or should I wait for the Ice Cream Sandwich?
the xoom is horrible
the xoom is horrible
I never said that I give a fuck if you like it or not, I just want to know if I should wait for Ice Cream Sandwich or buy a tablet now.
Yes, wait for the Tegra 3/Kal-el tablets, they're only a few months off.
Why is there so much hatred towards the Xoom? Yeah, it's a bit bulkier than the other tablets but they perform just as well as the alternatives.

Google wants devices to get upgrades for 18 months provided that the hardware is good enough.

right now, it's outclassed by other tablets and it's power button is retardedly placed
The other tablets perform just the same way. Xoom just is bulkier, and doesn't have a physical keyboard, nothing really necessary, at least for me.
Might be late to the party, but I was highly sceptical about tablets at first. Then I bought my transformer. I honestly have not gone to school, or out for more than a few hours without it. It's absolutely brilliant - the keyboard on the dock is really nice for typing on, and the whole thing is great for webbrowisng and a few games.
Only real issue with it is that the cameras are far from good, but I bought a tablet, not a camera. They're good enough for skype and the like, though.
You might want to wait though, it will always pay off.
Or wait for 2012 when the supposedly are going to have a octa-core Tegra

I almost always have my Transformer on me
I love my Transformer. It is great for a heavy commuter like myself.
Maybe I will get a Xoom this week or next week
Maybe not

The screen is dull and nowhere near as nice as the IPS display on the Transformer, which is outclassed again by the Samsung Galaxy Tab screens (I forget what type of tech they use)

Yeah, the screen isn't as nice but the issue I had with the transformer is the light bleed, which seems to be a large issue with all IPS screens.
I'd trust the Xoom to take a small fall and still survive, but with tablets such as the Galaxy 10.1 (which is still a nice tablet) I'd be scared to even use it without it falling to bits.
If I were to recommend a tablet to anyone I'd probably say either the Transformer or the Xoom. Personally I got let down by the build quality of the transformer, but if you get a good one it's a brilliant device. The Galaxy 10.1 does have a nice screen, but you can't expand the memory of it which I find to be a huge problem. The Xoom is heavier and doesn't have as nice a screen as the others (still has a good screen though) but it still has the same (or better) functionality than some of it's competition and a more robust build.
The three are great, one of them just suits your needs better than the other two.

Bought the Acer Iconia. It arrives on Tuesday.

I recommend waiting for Xmas because the price won't be much higher (Transformer prime is confirmed to be 400-500$) and it will be much better spec wise
As for myself, I think I'll get Transformer prime as my first tablet on X-mas
My only question is: How can you get internet on a tablet when you are not at home

Its what I do with my Transformer and SGS2. Unfortunately, I can't USB tether since the phone doesn't recognize the Transformer as a PC so I have to run it using battery eating wifi-hotspot mode.
Luckily it is possible to charge my phone from the Transformer's keyboard and use both at the same time.

Have you tried Bluetooth Tethering? It's usually faster and doesn't chew through as much battery either
To set it up though, you just pair the two devices like normal, then on the Transformer, go into the bluetooth settings for your phone and there should be an option to use the internet connection from it
The Transformer Prime is comming out early next month

What was the battery life of the original transformer?
What was the battery life of the original transformer?
With the dock, it could last you 5 days or so under normal usage.
What was the battery life of the original transformer?
I get around 16 hours with the dock, 8 without

I heard you can use one of these MiFi routers. It fits in your pocket and can be used with up to five(or four, idk) devices.
