I experienced several problems with VGA, especially with TV cables. I've tried to use a TV card, but everytime I plugged in the TV cable, my monitor started to flicker.
I'd suggest DVI, it doesn't costs that much more and you're safe. I'm not sure if that's actually true, but if I remember correctly, the image quality on DVI is always the same, while it can vary on VGA.
I would have gotten a DVI monitor myself, but since my mom paid it for me she choose an cheaper VGA one. Fucking import taxes, that's why DVI is more expensive.
