By student does that only mean College, or does being a high school student count too?
College and University students.
Well, Digital Rivers dropped the ball for clean installations from Vista 32 bit to 7 64 bit. It just doesn't work with the installer.
Will probably never be available for Estonia :saddowns:
Whenever it will be available in Lithuania, it will be available in Estonia :P
Check if your university is registered with MSDN AA first, if so you can get XP, Vista and 7 all free plus a bunch of other stuff.
My College is registered, but we haven't been given any usernames or anything, and the only thing I see up there is a MS Office server thing. Weird.
No Ultimate? I know what this means then...
Haven't gotten home yet but I thought you just got a ISO file that you burn to a disc. Is that not right?
Not an .iso file. You get some .exe file with two other files and it's just ridiculous.
Students from our school get it for free. (MSDN)
I guess this isnt available for Canadians since it wont accept my school email
Not an .iso file. You get some .exe file with two other files and it's just ridiculous.
What?!?! That's bullshit.
Not an .iso file. You get some .exe file with two other files and it's just ridiculous.
Yeah, it's bullshit. I can't perform a clean install (and I honestly don't feel like upgrading my Vista since there are so many useless files, and a clean install would just start me off fresh).
Yeah, it's bullshit. I will have to check but if not guess I am screwed.
http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/30470-make-bootable-iso-student-d-l.html you can do a clean install if you do this.
Ah thanks. This helps. Total bullshit on MS's part. Seriously, even their instructions tell you to do a clean install. I'm hoping they correct this for everyone else who buys it through this process. Edit: Actually that doesn't help too much. The problem is some people are having serious issues with their keys being accepted. I am also concerned. Will the upgrade work from Vista HP 32bit to 7 Pro 64 bit?
my friend did vista basic 32bit to 7 pro x64 with an upgrade.
With the installer though? I've heard the 64bit installer won't run under 32 (although I find it highly unlikely).

wow thanks man
I'm really pissed with this. Digital River really dropped the ball with this one.
I'm really pissed with this. Digital River really dropped the ball with this one.
Just do the thing to turn it into a .iso file. I am doing a clean install on my other computer with it now as I speak.
Just do the thing to turn it into a .iso file. I am doing a clean install on my other computer with it now as I speak.
Yeah just do what this guy says. It was a bit of a headache but I am now running my Windows 7 Home Premium x64 despite Digital River's terrible service.

Did the .iso thingy and installed 64bit Professional, Win 7 is nice.
Installer wasn't working on my 32Bit XP, did the .iso thing and I am now typing this on 64bit Professional. Is nice. :)
Hey, how long did it take all of you to get the e-mail?
Hey, how long did it take all of you to get the e-mail?
It wasn't instant, about 5 minutes maybe?
Just a quick Q, if I get the Windows 7 Pro version, and the DVD, can I install both 32-bit and 64-bit versions?
