Atom has 64-bit models (I use one as my router), however I'm not sure about the netbook versions of the chip. Wikipedia has pretty detailed tables, I'm sure at least one laptop has 64-bit support.
My netbook didn't support 64 bit and it had an atom. I dunno about the new ones.
I tend to just use x86 as the performance gains from 64 bit are so marginal they don't outweigh the potential incompatibilities (such as my FUCKING soundcard).
Even then, on a netbook, not likely worth it.
It's all about the use case really. Maybe you're using it to code for 64-bit targets and it's more convenient, or some other reason. I'm just saying it's possible for someone to run 64-bit on a netbook even if it's going to be rare for Windows-based OSes.

What chip do you have out of curiosity? I have a N550 that is 64-bit and also is a dual core, but it still bottlenecks my Ion.
I have 2GB of RAM and a 1GB graphics card... I didn't see any point in installing Windows 7 x64 over x86, so I went 32-bit.

I have an Atom 330 that I use as a router, and a N570 in my netbook.
