It's a dual-core. Hyperthreading isn't all that handy right now unless you're into CPU intensive tasks.

it is pretty good for older games that use dual cores but general over all windows apps + gaming the 435 does a bit better in general app use

the i3 does worse than the e8400, but the i3 will kick the E8400s ass once overclocked. I've already seen some retail i3s go above and beyond 4GHz on XS.

i3 = dual core 32nm with IGP

i5 6XX = Dual core 32nm with IGP and Hyperthreading
