I have a 550w Rosewill that cost me $50. Didn't have any problems running my 8800Gts or my Radeon 4850. It's a good power supply.
This is a little project that i started today, just for fun, and to see if i can do it. I had a classic xbox laying around it my house, and a bunch of computers I use for parts. I took out everything, and am left with an expty case to fill. Ill post pics as the project goes along, and it will take a while to complete, as I have a lot of custom fitting to do.
I thought you were thinking of putting a windows OS on it. I was going to say, good luck with your windows 95.
i like that people think cheap power supplies explode if they run extremely low consumption stuff. i use cheap as shit PSUs in my older comps. the wattage they run is way down there and the psu's are fine. it's only if you push them anywhere near their rated specs that you run dangertimes or if you're inlucky
Sounds like a realy good idea but i was hoping for software.
You could take the PSU out of the case, and run all of the cords intl a rubber sealant that keeps them together. And save some room inside of it. It'd be like the 360's Brick.
basically, yes. the only real hard part is going to be able to fit a PSU in that thing, but its possible.
get a micro itx or micro atx PSU, they should fit
OP, you should get this! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813500029
If you can prove that it's possible to put the xbox disk reader with a pc, i will make love to your anus

pics?
You can't easily use the xox dvd drive in a PC for 2 simple reasons: - Power is supplied differently - There is no eject button on the drive, It is ejected indirectly through a header on the motherboard that the 2 front panel buttons connect to. Bypass these issues with some clever wiring and you can.

Still doesn't solve the powering issue. And then you have drivers - Most work right off the bat, the philips xbox drives are almost useless for this.
Still doesn't solve the powering issue.
Soldering iron, various tools for cutting and de-insulating cable, electrical tape, and a multimeter. Add a little bit of common electronic know-how, and BAM!! Shit works.
Yo iownuall, put some progress pics in the OP to keep people's attention, even if they're just pictures of an empty xbox for now. Also include some of the parts you're getting for sure. Just keep this interesting.
Isn't it essentially just a DVD drive?
im pretty sure it IS a DVD drive.
