I honestly would like to see this happening. AMD has been slipping ever so slightly and I think this would be great for both Apple and AMD. If true it would bring the prices down a good bit.
It's not going to bring the prices down. I don't see anyone but the guys messing with osx86 caring.
Why wouldn't it? AMD is a whole lot cheaper.
It'd be nice only if AMD gave Apple as much leverage over their processors as Intel does.

And Apple is a business. Most people don't know the difference between AMD and Intel CPUs, and even less people know the difference in price between the two.

Apple lowering prices, there is a better chance of Activision releasing dlc for free.

They also know the difference between $599 and $449. Lower price = more sales.
They've lowered their prices many times. I can no longer get a Mac to price at $30,000-40,000.
They don't want to lower their prices. They're probably either talking to them about graphics chips, MAYBE llano for the bottom rung MacBook Pro, or more likely, trying to sweat intel to drive chip prices down.
Who says there are lowering prices? They may just do it and not lower prices. Less cost to apple = more profit.
Wonder which CPUs they will start to impliment.

how do you know they don't want to lower prices? maybe they do, also people will bitch a little less about their prices.
Apple's been slowly ramping down their entire line but I'm not sure where that's going.

They could be coming out with a new (more expensive) line. Wouldn't surprise me.
Wait...why would apple use AMD cpus when they now own they bought a semiconductor business..to make their own CPUs, like the A4?

why do they still use Intel?
Why wouldn't it? AMD is a whole lot cheaper.
That's why.
why do they still use Intel?
Performance advantage, and to keep prices as high as possible.

I know, I was replying to his dumb question with another dumb question.
I always told my brother it would be smart if they switched to AMD. They are cheap and fast.
AMD 965 X4 competes with processors that cost way more.
why do they still use Intel?
Because all of their intel based products were around before they made the A4 chip...
exactly.
