Don't they already have a mic?

Nope, but if you connect a pair of Apple headphones with a mic in them you can use that to record things. Doesn't work on 1st Gen though.

Ah. I thought 3rd gen iPod Touches had an internal mic. The more you know.
I think so. But I've been wrong before so who knows :iiam:
The peripherals are identical. The only changes are to the specifications and some to the firmware.
Damn carriers, theyll do anything to maintain market share. Truth is the Internet and Internet call services like Skype will soon blow them away.
In this case, the carriers have a quiet word to Apple and get these kinds of apps removed with some legal threat no doubt.
Anything that gets popular and is free eventually starts to cost money. If Skype became the leading method of telephone communication, they wouldn't hesitate to add a monthly cost.
