Are your monitors actually 1440x900?
So it would look jacked up if I got the three in portrait landscape portrait. So if I do some gaming and some work should I go with the three 19" in eyefinity or the 19-24-19
Yea it would, I would reccomend going with the 19-19-19 setup, then get some rotating vesa stands so when your working you can rotate a couple of the screens for a easier workplace, and when your in gaming mode you get to play across a massive wide screen, which is awesome.
Well, monitor. [editline]11:37AM[/editline] automerge
Yes my current and next 19" monitor will be 1440x900
Well, that sucks then. If you had a 5:4 19" the edges would line up better and there wouldn't have been such a difference in vertical resolution. Looks like 19-19-19 is the way to go.
Ahh ok Thanks for all the help now if I go with the 19-19-19 do I have to get the active DVI adapter?
Ahh ok Thanks for all the help now if I go with the 19-19-19 do I have to get the active DVI adapter?
No, it wouldn't even matter if you did because of the resolution.
So I can get the passive DisplayPort to VGA and there would be no difference?
So I can get the passive DisplayPort to VGA and there would be no difference?
Yeah.
Sweet now that I'm saving about $100 I can get a new mouse and keyboard :D Im going to get MX 518 and what keyboard should I get?
This? I don't really see anything else and I hate Razer, so.
vga display port adapters are much cheaper. but imo a 5770 is a bit slow if you intend on playing the latest games i run 3x23" 1080p monitors on a 5870 and resource hogs like arma 2/metro 2033 kick its arse

tbh it seems a bit of a waste of time with the reasonably low res monitors you plan on using, i would suggest putting the money towards a WQHD monitor

Sgt Pringles what keyboard do you use? Since I have about $100 extra dollers I can buy a new keyboard I was thinking the Logitech g15
I really love my G15, I recommend it.
Sgt Pringles what keyboard do you use? Since I have about $100 extra dollers I can buy a new keyboard I was thinking the Logitech g15
Well after going total gaymershit with the cyborg keyboard in the very beginning: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823175005&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Keyboards-_-Saitek-_-23175005 I went for a more normal keyboard which is this: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/101360 , very nice quality, feels nice when you type, and has built in media buttons so I dont have to worry about macro'ing that shit, best keyboard I have owned, ( I have bought a lot in my time of a gamer) I also had this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002VPD3GU/ref=ord_cart_shr Which was when I wanted a more slim keyboard that looked like a mac one, but then I got the logitech above. And I also had a Saitek K140 keyboard, but sold that after a few weeks. I dont buy saitek products anymore, I have heard good things about the G15, go for it I think I have had about 6 keyboards in the last year :v:
Mmk thanks for the suggestion on the G15 and I was researching some things about the adapters and someone said that your graphics card company should give you one. Anyone heard anything about that?
Why are you getting two monitors?(Out of my own interest)
Why are you getting two monitors?(Out of my own interest)
I'm getting two more monitors so I can have a triple monitor setup for gaming and work. [editline]12:02PM[/editline] and this adapter should work? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812270274
http://support.amd.com/us/eyefinity/Pages/eyefinity-dongles.aspx This will tell you what adapters will work, and where to get them
Thanks
I run GTA4 maxed out on a ATi 5770 @ 5184 x 900 with no problems, same with just cause 2, l4d2, I havent come across a game that I cant run properly, and if I want to play crysis I will play it on one screen so I still have good performance.
using your gta4 example i only have the expansion and tbogt runs like crap at 5760x1080 at the max settings it will allow. l4d1/2 and other source engine games dont really count they arnt demanding at all i can still get 90+fps. i found that for max settings on more demanding titles i had to settle for a average fps of 30 rather than 60. this is just an opinion but if i could go back in time i would probably buy a 27" WQHD instead, portrait eyefinity give a higher resolution than WQHD but the bezels become a big issue then. also with cheap tn monitor there is more risk of colour shift i believe, my dells have quite a lot, i keep meaning to buy a spyder3elite to correct it but they arnt exactly cheap
if you consider 30 FPS "properly" then ok
Really, I feel like he has about 30 FPS, what FPS do you usually have in games like JC2 Sgt Pringles?
Really, I feel like he has about 30 FPS, what FPS do you usually have in games like JC2 Sgt Pringles?
I get 30fps in Just Cause 2, which is very playable in my opinion as I have never come across any lag, slow dows etc when I have lots of stuff exploding/etc on the screen at once.
if you consider 30 FPS "properly" then ok
On GTA4 I got 30-40fps last time I ran the benchmark, source games I cap at 60fps with vsync. And do you not think that 30fps is a playable frame rate?
30 FPS should be pretty playable if it stays at 30 FPS smoothly [editline]11:25AM[/editline] Also don't use vsync, you won't notice much difference
3 monitors, you don't need DP->DVI, just get DP->VGA, the quality difference is neglible
it's not negligible past ~1600x1900 are you crazy and if he has 3 monitors it's bound to be even larger a difference fuck [editline]04:00PM[/editline]
Also don't use vsync, you won't notice much difference
fuck DO NOT listen to this guy

And do you not think that 30fps is a playable frame rate?
um, 30-40 FPS in the GTA IV benchmark doesn't mean anything. I get ~55 FPS in the benchmark with maximum settings at 1680x1050 but in-game it drops to as low as 18 FPS and the average is only around 25-30. [editline]07:09PM[/editline] and no I don't think 30 FPS is anywhere near playable [editline]07:10PM[/editline] which is also one of the reasons I don't play GTA IV anymore because it's absolutely ridiculous that a Q9400 @ 4GHz with 4890 CF isn't able to max it with 40+ FPS average.
