Also don't use vsync, you won't notice much difference
Agree, Vsync is good for nothing but input lag. fps_max is a better solution in the source engine.
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before in the thread, but you can't do a PLP (Portrait-landscape-portrait) setup with Eyefinity if you wish to game. It simply isn't supported by the technology. You can emulate it in software using SoftTH (http://www.kegetys.net/SoftTH/)but this does impact performance over a native Eyefinity configuration.
Ye I have decided to just go three monitors in a row all 19"
it's not negligible past ~1600x1900 are you crazy and if he has 3 monitors it's bound to be even larger a difference fuck [editline]04:00PM[/editline] fuck DO NOT listen to this guy
What good does Vsync do apart from input lag? I don't even notice the tearing
you might not notice because you're blind but everyone else should. and no VSync should not add any noticeable input lag, that's just a pointless thing to bitch about like the teeny tiny lag with bluetooth mice. a useless, hollow excuse like "i don't like to exercise because i get tired"

I don't think Vsync is worth it
Hey. I also have a 5770 graphics card. It will only support 2 outputs so if i put a dvi splitter into it, would i be able to run three screens from the same card. I don't really want to get a display port adapter
Hey. I also have a 5770 graphics card. It will only support 2 outputs so if i put a dvi splitter into it, would i be able to run three screens from the same card. ^Shouldn't DP->VGA be around the price of a splitter?
Hey. I also have a 5770 graphics card. It will only support 2 outputs so if i put a dvi splitter into it, would i be able to run three screens from the same card. I don't really want to get a display port adapter
explain?
explain?
I don't have a display port on my monitor or graphics card
I don't have a display port on my monitor or graphics card
Then you cant do eyefinity over 3 screens if your ati 5770 doesnt have displayport output
How can you have a 5770 and not have a displayport? And if you dont have a displayport on your monitor thats why you get a Displayport to VGA/DVI/HDMI
Can't i buy a second 5770, crossfire and get three displays? Also my 5770: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/194707
Can't i buy a second 5770, crossfire and get three displays? Also my 5770: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/194707
No, in a cross-fire or Eyefinity configuration, all the video outputs must be from a single card. You can use the outputs on the cards individually for multiple displays, but it will not work in Crossfire, and certainly won't allow you to enable Eyefinity. This is generally a better option if you just want more than two displays as you can pick up a much cheaper second card.
you might not notice because you're blind but everyone else should. and no VSync should not add any noticeable input lag, that's just a pointless thing to bitch about like the teeny tiny lag with bluetooth mice. a useless, hollow excuse like "i don't like to exercise because i get tired"
uhh no Vsync input delay is extremely noticeable and is an absolute no-no when it comes to competitive games [editline]01:48PM[/editline] you must be using some high refresh rate CRT or something
vsync input delay makes me want to kill kittens
So what are my options on my http://www.ebuyer.com/product/194707 for three displays with eyefinity enabled? Currently got my main screen attached via HDMI and a 19" dell via VGA. i have another identical dell screen using VGA and i had a DVI adapter for it. But of course it wont allow three displays on at one time
^Shouldn't DP->VGA be around the price of a splitter?
again vga sucks dick stop offering suggestions [editline]11:10PM[/editline]
uhh no Vsync input delay is extremely noticeable and is an absolute no-no when it comes to competitive games [editline]01:48PM[/editline] you must be using some high refresh rate CRT or something
from my experience it depends on the engine, ultimately the game.
again vga sucks dick stop offering suggestions [editline]11:10PM[/editline] from my experience it depends on the engine, ultimately the game.
he's only running 1440x900
ie i have no issues with that in Source or id Tech games, but i guess i notice it a bit with Gamebryo(oblivion, fallout 3, etc.) and Unreal Engine 3 games. [editline]11:13PM[/editline]
he's only running 1440x900
eh still greatly prefer DVI. it's not like it's really that much more expensive, if the display already supports it, there's no reason not to. unless you're one of those idiots that thinks you need gold plates and cup holders on your cables and a $30+ price tag

i'm on a 60Hz LCD with VSync on and i seriously notice no input lag in CS or L4D or anything source based
Uh, no. What's the reason for settling for less when they cost the same?
the reason is they don't
Any resolution at or above 1680x1050 is going to look noticeably worse than with DVI, and the cable is also susceptible to degradation and weird artifacts like flickering.
Except that never happens, and the quality difference is negligible unless you press your face to the screen. A DVI cable can run over longer distances, but who really does that?
Agree, Vsync is good for nothing but input lag. fps_max is a better solution in the source engine.
that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard vsync - limits fps to your monitor's refresh rate fps_max - limits fps to a number, which you will presumably set to your monitor's refresh rate to eliminate tearing same results.
uhh no Vsync input delay is extremely noticeable and is an absolute no-no when it comes to competitive games [editline]01:48PM[/editline] you must be using some high refresh rate CRT or something

i'm on a 60Hz LCD with VSync on and i seriously notice no input lag in CS or L4D or anything source based
he's just talking shit. 16ms between each input is NOT NOTICEABLE
If you need a dp-> vga adapter and live in the uk I can sell you one cheap. Sold my 3rd screen :( Send me a pm if you want it
vsync - limits fps to your monitor's refresh rate fps_max - limits fps to a number, which you will presumably set to your monitor's refresh rate to eliminate tearing same results.
I think theres a difference [editline]05:18PM[/editline]
i'm on a 60Hz LCD with VSync on and i seriously notice no input lag in CS or L4D or anything source based
While it's not huge, I notice a bit of mouse lag, and I don't think it's worth it while I don't notice the tearing anyway
eh still greatly prefer DVI. it's not like it's really that much more expensive, if the display already supports it, there's no reason not to. unless you're one of those idiots that thinks you need gold plates and cup holders on your cables and a $30+ price tag
An Active DisplayPort to DVI is around $110 and an Active DisplayPort to VGA is around $24 That's a pretty big price difference
uhhh, what? DP->DVI http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&IsNodeId=1&Description=display%20port%20to%20dvi&bop=And&Order=BESTMATCH&PageSize=20 DP->VGA http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=display+port+to+vga&x=0&y=0

And in order to use EyeFinity you need an active adapter. That or a passive DP-VGA adapter. Forgot that part.
The cheaper ones are not active adapters. And in order to use EyeFinity you need an active adapter. That or a passive DP-VGA adapter.
