Get a router supported by dd-wrt
tweak the antenna signal to 20mA or so.
Make it connect to nearby routers, till you find one that's faster.
Disable wireless broadcasting btw, or you'll get in trouble.
What you do is this:
1) Take your cellular phone. Do not use a house phone, they simply do not work, because it is a different mechanism. So far 'flip open' phones have proven to be the most successful.
2) Find a spare ethernet cable. The longer, the better. Blue ones work fine, but I would pick up an orange one if possible, the color indicates that the wires have been chrome-plated, which aids tremendously in the transfer of electrons along the cable. I've found 25%-30% better results with orange ethernet cables.
3) Get a salad bowl. It must be a salad bowl, and as close as possible to 2 feet in diameter as you can find. Any smaller and it won't catch the signal. And larger and the signal will bounce around for too long.
4) Cover the salad bowl opening with a single sheet of aluminum foil. Do not cover the inside of the salad bowl, simply lay the sheet over and crimp the excess over the edge of the bowl for a solid fit. If you have extra-thin aluminum foil (More than 20 square feet total foil), then you may want to put two or more sheets on top.
5) Wrap your ethernet cable around your cell phone. Make sure it's as tight as you can make it. If it is a flip-open phone, leave it open when wrapping the cable. The phone does not recieve 3G signals if it is closed, only 2G or 1G. Make sure that after wrapping the cable around the phone, it has 2-4 feet of extra wire to be able to plug it in to your PC.
6) Place the wrapped phone on top of the aluminum foil covering the salad bowl, dead center. If it is not in the center, it will not recieve the signals bounced from the salad bowl necessary for this to work.
7) Plug the trailing end of the ethernet cable in to your PC, and you should be getting a better signal from that 'linksis' connection you see, as well as many other signals in a much broader area around your home. Turn the phone on and leave it on; It cannot get the signals if it is off. It must stay on for this to work correctly.
From this trick I've gone from about 200 kb/s all the way to 1.3 mb/s at times. I've been having my salad bowl and phone set up for many months and have been happily passing my technique to any friend that asks. I hope this helps your internet problems.
whoa thanks, can't try though because of parents and that shit >_>
God we're so bad
128 kb/s is not a megabit
you are so wrong

It may be splitting hairs here but the guy was right, 128 kb does not equal 1 megabit. 128 kB does however.
General rule of thumb, although some debate over it, is that the large B stands for bytes and the small b stands for bits. There are 8 bit to one byte.

I like it that way personally, it just seems that a lot of people here are to lazy to hit shift when typing however.

Actually, due to the extremely high density of data that will envelop the area when using the salad bowl and phone technique, only the person who constructed it will be able to see the device. But please note, the ethernet cable will still be visible from the half-way point between the bowl and your PC. (You may want to hide it)
It's important to note that you will need to assemble the device while your parents are out (it's visible while being built) and place it in a hard-to-reach area. (It can still be touched even though it cannot be seen)
Does it work if internet is capped?
Would a RJ45 cord be fine as well?
its ok guys the guy from my ISP came to fix it.the amp was broken(I have cable internet)so he fixed and now I got a wireless N router so I'm downloading at around 1 MegaByte per second so thanks for the help guys lol.

Yes, but cat5 would be preferred.

I think you can also use an empty pringles tube instead of a salad bowl.
No, what you have to do is, using selotape (glue and such won't work, they're not conductive), make several hundred pringle tubes into your IP address.
In this case, you will want, and need, as much salad as humanly possible to collect covering the pringles. If the satelites see it from space you'll get a call from the FBI as it is proven to pick up police radio and it is possible, using this advanced technique, to hack into the home network of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
