My 5870 flatlines at 66C at 100% fan speed while mining...
How healthy is this to be running?
Underclocking memory to 600mhz gets it to 65C
fuck yeah already made 0.01 BTC on BitClockers
let's push for the weekend
Modern graphics cards are fine at 80C, you're okay
So what's the decent pool right now? I'm using slush's pool right now.
Slush, BTC Guild, Deepbit
Running at 400Mhash/s :3:
ATI 5870 clocked to 980MHz. 71°C at the moment though it has been up to 76°C.
Need to set my extra 120mm fan there somehow.
I just started mining and my GTX GeForce 470 temp is at 91°C. I'm not sure if thats too hot for a GPU, should I not mine till I get another fan?
[editline]11th June 2011[/editline]
Sweet I just put a fan on top of my tower and point it through a vent and it keeps it at 80
Too late to mine, it's time to buy them.
Protip: If you have an Nvidia card, then just fuck it, it's not worth it.
You'll get outperformed by ATI cards 4 year older than your card.
So, what exactly are we even calculating? What are those hashes used for? Because unlike Folding@Home or similar projects this seems like a giant waste of electricity.
So i got 0.039 coins in 9 hours.
[editline]11th June 2011[/editline]
oh holy shit a 6990 here is 855$+
How much bandwidth would this use? I have a friend who might want to give this a shot, though he's on a Rogers Rocket Hub (Basically a 3G HSPA+ modem, gets about 7.2 Mbps) with a 10 GB monthly cap.
I imagine it doesn't take a lot, though overages are a bitch ($10 a GB).
I don't have any concrete numbers, but a returned hash is probably around a few kilobytes.
And I mean a few.
In two days I have made 0.1626 (~$3.25)
So... in 11 hours i've made 0.043 BC, is it worth it?
So... in 11 hours i've made 0.043 BC, is it worth it?
Probably not if you're using an Nvidia card.
eh. well i tried atleast.

The hashes are used to verify payments of bitcoins. Most of the payments these days are coming from the pools to the pool users.
but, i am happy with any money actually. but i guess it doesn't cover electric costs?

No, forum.bitcoin.org is down for everyone and I had the RPC error too, but I fixed. I had entered the wrong host, username and password.
I apologize for the amount of silly questions, though I have another: For different miners on the same machine, you would still have to create another worker right?

AFAIK.
GPU mining with Phoenix and my GTX 580, CPU mining with GUIMiner and my i7-930.
Are you able to sell your BTC when you have below 1?
you can sell .00000001 if you wanted
[editline]11th June 2011[/editline]
that's the minimum
Are you able to sell your BTC when you have below 1?
Mtgox has a requirement of a minimum of 1 BTC, but iirc if you say you're going to send them 1, and you send them less than that it still works fine.
oh look, the bitcoin currency is crashing

It's incredibly volatile right now, if you buy it on the downswing and sell on the upswing, instaprofit
