Fuck
Oh well, I can wait until it picks back up at least a bit.
I don't even have enough BTC to sell on MtGox right now.
Is this actually beneficial if you have an ATI card? As in, you'll actually make money?

Yes, not much, but yes.

Some people build rigs with 2 or 3 5850's just for this.
But if you're just running a gaming rig with a single high-end card, you'll probably lose all the profit when you look at how much more power you're consuming.

Well I get 250-280 MHash/sec on my 5850. I've mined for about, I dunno, 5 hours?
Confirmed rewards 0.03599165 = About 66 cents?

I assume you're not using deepbit in which case you have to add the unconfirmed to that, it is rare for a block to become invalid, so the unconfirmed is more or less as good as the confirmed, you just can't use it yet.
am I looking at $1 for one day of mining or more than that with a slightly OC'd 5770?
What is the best pool?
And will somebody make FP pool? Or something where all the FP people are?

oh okay I don't even think I'll bother
You're probably all already aware of this but economists and analysts are calling Bitcoin a scam, claiming that it will only benifit early adopters (and that's without electrical bills in consideration). Here's one article: http://www.quora.com/Is-the-cryptocurrency-Bitcoin-a-good-idea/answer/Adam-Cohen-2 (some of the comments on the reddit post are also informative http://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/hpxf7/why_bitcoin_is_a_scam/?limit=500).
it's not completely anonymous.
the creator of bitcoins has said it isn't.
I read about some of the high-end bitcoin mining rigs. IIRC they make just under $30 a day, but they cost ~$2000
Would it be a wise investment? (Of course, you could also get another rig or two later once you've recovered from the first one.)

The thing is if you buy a great PC for mining and you make really little you'll still have an use for the PC.

It's worth it especially if you play the market well.
Getting only 220 on a stock 6870, bit annoying seeing as it's in between the 5850 and 5870 in performance... this is with GUIminer.

If you look at the bcmPPUSD, it's actually gone up from $21 to $23, if that maintains its value you'll be able to still trade BTC for that many dollars on Paypal.
Checked this morning and still going strong, earning about 0.038 for the current round.

Can I run the same miner on two different computer? The one I have here is going at 7mhash/s and I think it could add a bit to my progress.

Bitcoin Market is a small market with a 30d volume of only 150k USD.
And they're invite-only right now.
And I'm a member :v:
So to make money, I should buy when it goes down and sell when it goes up? If so, excellent.
And I'm a member :v:
You wouldn't happen to be able to invite me would you?

Not at the moment, invite system is down because of fraud on the site apparently. Registration is pretty much closed for a bit until things get back to normal.

I could find more than that faster on the street
I could find more than that faster on the street
only difference is that being on the street sucks cocks in hell and actually being able to do stock market moves with bitcoins is fun
Playmoney for big boys.
I would rather donate my CPU time to Folding at Home.
What would you choose, less than one dollar a day or help people cure shit?
GTX 570

Well, that's what happens with a Nvidia card. Sorry.

shit isn't a disease
Using my old E4700 (Can't use my GPU, Ati 3450) and I'm getting 1.2Mhash/s :v:
the market for bitcoins is too volatile to even consider putting a single dollar into it.
anyone thinking that a bitcoin is a good investment is mistaken, however feel free to break some blocks
I've done some reading and I still don't know what this is about. So what uses your computing power? What purpose does this serve? Is this like a world wide grid to do scientific calculations or what?
Edit:
okay so it serves no purpose and it just gets its value because of the effort it takes to generate them, and the willingness of other people to accept it as currency...
Edit:
what a waste of energy then. The least it could do is calculate something useful... I wonder what the value of one bitcoin is after you've subtracted the energy bill from it...
Why do ATI cards work faster than Nvidia cards? Does CUDA not do much for this?
