You could start out slow, and then buy more video cards when you get the money for it :v:
Yeah, i have a SLI motherboard with a single 480 on it, but i don't have the money to buy a 580/590.
See what you guys did. It's all Facepunch's fault. At this point, the more people that come in late to teh game, the more the market suffers!
If you want to build a mining rig, you'll really need an AMD card.
I know, but i really don't want to risk buying a new gpu for 900$ then a month later it's a financial crisis. And i'd rather have a nvidia since i can run sli.
what is the highest safe temperature for a 5770?
told it to run overnight. bitclockers says i have 0.02 estimated earnings per block. whoa the USD price of a coin dropped hugley. last night it said it was 20-25 dollars. now its 19 dollars. has it been dropping like this?

It's dropping because it has no viability and everyone is jumping in. I sold all of mine during the rise, though a little to early. The whole reason for bitcoins was an anonymous currency, whose value rose due to speculation and the thought that you can buy things eventually. Nobody in their right mind sells anything illegal with bitcoins publicly anymore due to the recent publicity. Retards are everywhere trying to spend them on drugs and other illegal things, and so are the police (because they know now.) All the sellers have left the market and the only ones left don't advertise and are in secrecy, but even then most are getting out due to the volatility of the currency. [release]TL;DR:Bitcoins are dead for the current time. If you haven't sold yours hold out for a bit for the next bubble and sell that shit. If your just looking into it now, give up. A form of money with no buying power is the equivalent of monopoly money.[/release] I may seem like a debby downer, but it's the truth. Have fun heating up your rooms with computers running 24/7 on a get rich quick scheme. People are going to come at me talking about how it will eventually even out, be viable, or sellers come back. That will happen, but you know what? your a kid on facepunch ( so am I) and we can't compete. Try mining against grown up retards that are buying multiple insane mining rigs as I post. Bitcoins will most likely eventually be a stable underground currency. But for anyone looking into it now wants to mine and get money. So unless your already rich or have an insane rig with multiple high end amd gpu's your out of luck
The drop was mostly limited to MtGox and that's largely because: 1) Bitcoins are volatile 2) MtGox's Dwolla-functionality broke for a couple of days, apparently, so I heard.
dad looked at it and says its a scam. says that it probably has a spam sender installed to my computer. so paranoid. im installing a virus scanner and checking just in case anyway :v:

Your dad's an idiot. At least we now know that lack of intelligence passes down through genes. (You didn't have AV installed before this)

Sigh. Doesn't that thing like reboot after an hour or two? Or was that just on beta builds of Windows?
Uh, what can I DOWNLOAD with bitcoins?

Personally I like it because as someone who's studies economics and is training as an accountant I like to look at exchange rates and market forces etc.

I've made over $17 since I started - not much, but it's enough to maybe buy that heatsink I've been wanting or something. I do want to keep it as BTC as long as I can though, since prices will only go up as difficulty increases. Might just leave it there until my next PC build.
Since my laptops video card doesn't support mining.. I'm CPU mining and getting an average... 3mhash/s :v: [editline]11th June 2011[/editline] Oh nice on my main pc I get 45mhash/s on 2 monitors while watching a video and under medium-heavy load!
If I try doing anything even close to remotely gpu intensive, like watching a youtube video while mining on guiminer, the amd driver crashes. Thanks by the way, to the guy who posted that video further up the page.

It slows down calculations when using Youtube etc. due to the hardware acceleration in Flash. If you disable hardware acceleration, it doesn't slow it down, and my quad-core Phenom II can play 1080P Youtube videos easily on CPU.
With CUDA instead of the default one, i can watch stuff without problems, and still at 105Mhash/s :smug:
I like this idea. It's independently audited and no one can 'fiddle the books' or just inject pointless amounts into it which further devalues it.
