No its very bad 300-400 is a decent amount, 600+ is good (usually gained only from dual ATI cards) at 80 you will probably make you $47 a month if you run your PC to mine 24/7, assuming the difficulty never increases (which it does)
i do have two ATI Radeons in my computer, how do i make it so that it uses both of them? i dont see why i only get 80 mhashes though. its not like im doing anything while mining. steam is probably open but other than that...
why am i only getting like 105 mhashes a second on a brand new, overclocked 570?
why am i only getting like 105 mhashes a second on a brand new, overclocked 570?
Because nvidia sucks for this.
Whats funny is that I thought nVidia focused on parallel processing...
What's the cheapest and best GPU setup to mine the most bitcoins? The wiki page isn't helpfull and vague.

How to properly build a mining rig: Take that old shitty rig that's never being used, swap in new GPU, maybe new PSU, done. Sure it uses more energy than some stupid Atom rig but fuck it.
It's a shame the dollar is worth so little. It's not worth the time.
The total number of bitcoins is programmed to approach 21 million over time.[7] The money supply is programmed to grow as a geometric series every 210,000 blocks (roughly every 4 years); by 2013 half of the total supply will have been generated, and by 2017, 3/4 will have been generated. As it approaches that mark, the value of bitcoins could experience systematic price deflation because of the lack of new introduction. On the other hand, if proper applications of Bitcoins will not emerge, they might just become worthless. Bitcoins, however, are divisible to eight decimal places (a total of 2.1 × 1015 or 2.1 quadrillion units), which removes one practical limitation to downward price adjustments in a deflationary environment
Does this mean that bitcoins will become absolutely worthless come 2013? Edit: Read this wrong, I meant to ask if they will become worthless once the 21million bitcoin mark is reached.

You are getting speeds akin to CPU mining, or very very low GPU mining. To mine at good mhash's you need to be running your cards at full load to get a good accurate picture of what you can mine. Note that doing this renders your computer pretty much unusable. If you want to use the computer you mine with, either don't mine when you are using it or just don't mine at all. It's not worth it otherwise.
Does this mean that bitcoins will become absolutely worthless come 2013?
It means Bitcoins grow in value because the difficulty of obtaining them increases rapidly over time. The only problem with the system is when you're not putting any new currency into the system. It's like a country who's population growth is exploding but their GDP stays the same. (I think? I haven't studied economy at all)
What is a good GPU monitor? I dont want mine overheating.
MSI Afterburner. You can even set custom fan speeds for specific temperatures.
I dont know how to overclock at all and that kind of scares me.
You don't need to set custom fan speeds or overclock to use MSI Afterburner. [editline]19th June 2011[/editline] Dem graphs, look at 'em Sexy. Just go at 5MHz increments on Core clock. If it goes unstable, trust me, you'll know. It can't damage your GPU, just so you know. It'll crash and reboot your computer before letting that happen. Or just shut it down.
I have a 5770. Good for this? (Should have asked beforehand) Also I am interested in overclocking but I dont know what a safe clock would be.
I also have a 5770. It's pretty good. Just go in 5MHz increments. You should notice temporary freezing of the computer or graphical glitches if you've gone too far. It's also good to have a look at your miner while you're doing it, if it suddenly crashes down in speed or stops completely, you've gone too high and should step back like 10MHz. Can't tell you a straight-up clock to be at, since every GPU is different and base clock speed varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.
I decided that its not worth using this. Yeah its cool and some people could make money but in the end I find that watching my GPU temp and not using my computer is less fun than just playing games and working like a normal person. If you want to do this, more power to you but its not for me.
what would be the average bitcoin fraction an hour on an nvidia 570?
if you have a nvidia card it's not worth it at all, unless you're getting something like 80 mhash [editline]19th June 2011[/editline]
I meant to ask if they will become worthless once the 21million bitcoin mark is reached.
steady but not worthless
I meant to ask if they will become worthless once the 21million bitcoin mark is reached.
If nothing is done to increase the cap, sure. I mean, it's not like the value suddenly disappears, but when new people come into this, you have to generate new currency to be given out. But it's not just currency being pooped out of nowhere; people are doing work which backs up the value of the currency, just like any other currency.
If you earn a bunch of money, then backup your wallet, spend it all and replace the current wallet with your old one wouldnt you get all your coins back?
I just started and have the wallet and all of that in a encrypted truecrypt file. I joined BTC Guild because I just chose one at random. Now do I need to do anything special for the miner to connect to the wallet or does it need to connect to the wallet at all?
Pool mining basically is all of you mining into the pools wallet, you cash out into your wallet when you want to. You just put your wallet address in the website and pres 'pay me' or whatever.
Ok now all I need to do is set this up to connect properly. [editline]18th June 2011[/editline] Also the bitcoin client is still trying to get blocks (it keeps stopping for minutes on end and its annoying me :( )
I'm wondering if it would be worth it to invest into a bitcoin rig...
damnit i need to make a new container thats even bigger!
