That means your pool is down.
Ahh, well, I guess I'll try again today or something.
If I get 3BTC, would somebody trade me Portal 2 for it? Also, what is the best pool to use?
If I get 3BTC, would somebody trade me Portal 2 for it? Also, what is the best pool to use?
I will :D
I am on BTC Guild and when I start mining, I get "Problems connecting with Bitcoin" I am using GUIMiner.
Got the software work now. Is this computer completely useless for mining? Core2duo E4500 stock clock 2,2Ghz (can be overclocked) Ati radeon 2600xt (apparently doesn't support OpenCl) 2 gigs of ddr2, probably quite low frequency too. My other rig should do slightly better job though Nvidia 9600Gt, currently stock freq but can be clocked. Core2Duo E4600 Clocked at ~3.1Ghz 3 gigs of ddr2 800 Mhz
Start in server mode and open router.

Is mining with a laptop a dumb idea? I was thinking of trying this out. i7 720 QM @1.6Ghz (turbo 1.9) ATI Radeon HD 4670 (1gb)
Try it, get some kind of temperature monitor though. Try mining on that i7, I have seen some i7s getting over 100Mhash/s
-snip- I am stupid. Nevermind.

Why do some people BUY a build for mining? Isn't it a waste?
I've got a balance on https://www.bitcoins.lc/, how do I get the coins from there to my wallet? Wait, nevermind sorry, found it.
Why do some people BUY a build for mining? Isn't it a waste?
Well it isn't a waste if you either sell the parts you bought or use them your self. Say you buy a 6990 and bitcoins drop and they are not worth anything any more you will still have a nice 6990 to game on. The rest if the build you can use as a server or a spare computer. So you really don't loose out.
Still, how much do you make with bitcoins in what amount of time?
Still, how much do you make with bitcoins in what amount of time?
I am making about $2 - $3 a day if I only mine at night and about $5 - $6 if I mine all day. Don't know if I am doing my math right here but its nice to have about $60+ extra a month just for running your GPU
Bitcoin7 looks like it has more perks than mtgox, and they both use dwolla. Does it matter which one I use?
How do you calculate it? I've been running this for a while with a friend on Slush Pool.
How do you calculate it? I've been running this for a while with a friend on Slush Pool.
I would do it by recording the amount of coins you have and then run it for a day or how ever long you like to run it and subtract the amount you had before you started and then you can use that to see how much money you made. Don't know if this is the simplest way but it should work
In case anyone hasn't seen this: (skip to 7:50 ish)
How do you calculate it? I've been running this for a while with a friend on Slush Pool.
Take out any btc amount you have with a pool (or write down the amount) at midnight. Then, next midnight, take the amount you made throughout the day, and multiply that by the average bitcoin USD price(or whatever currency you work with), and that is how much you make.

Tell me why it isn't a waste to buy a mining pc
How much longer is bitcoin mining estimated to be possible? Two years?
How much longer is bitcoin mining estimated to be possible? Two years?
In 2033, it's not estimated, it's a set time. Even then, you will be able to make money by doing transaction hashes.
In 2033, it's not estimated, it's a set time. Even then, you will be able to make money by doing transaction hashes.
Well doesn't it stop at something like 23 billion bitcoins? And call me stupid, but what are transaction hashes?
