No I don't think that is right as Pooled minign is based off the solo mining which is finding SSH hashes which have a certain number of 0's leading them and so qualify as a Bitcoin, the pooled methods are just made to give regular return rather than risk of the solo mining. The verification of block history does come into it somewhere though. I'll look it all up tonight if I get time.
Also at Britcoin someone tryign to cash in an old investment worth nearly a 3rd of the entire Britcoin market (in GBP) good luck with that and if he does expect price decreases on britcoin at least.
You guys know that you spend more in energy consumption than what you will ever get from selling bitcoins right?
You guys know that you spend more in energy consumption than what you will ever get from selling bitcoins right?
Only if you use CPU for mining or a really bad graphics card.
Anyone above 200Mhash stands to make a reasonable profit and if you have an enthusiast AMD card it's easy to make $5 a week in pure profit by only mining during the night, and tripple that if mining 24/7.
[editline]23rd July 2011[/editline]
Unless I did my math all wrong (a bit tired so it's possible) only about 1/5 of the money I make by mining go to paying for electricity. This is with 400MHs.
You guys know that you spend more in energy consumption than what you will ever get from selling bitcoins right?
Not everyone pays for their electricity rent/living with parents or pay a flat fee (unlikely nowadays though)
Does anyone have a spare Bitcoin-Market invite I could have?
My 5770 gets ~180 mhash, but I've heard some people with the same card can get a lot more, why does mine seem so low?
use MSI Afterburner
i just accidentally set my memory clock a bit too high, graphics were freaking out. with a 75mhz core boost i'm getting 20 more Mhashes/s
I have a question.
If Bitcoins are currency, what backs up the value of Bitcoins?
The rarity?
The popularity?
What gives them value?
To put it simply, all money is a promise. You're paying 5 worthless "Dollars" for some soda, and you are promising that person that you will give them 5 "units" worth of goods or services back. Lots of promises is what keeps a currency running.
Getting 300 Mhash/s with my HD5850, is that good?
Getting 300 Mhash/s with my HD5850, is that good?
Its decent.
lol 300mhashes/s is more than decent, i get an average of 130mhashes/s (unoverclocked) and i pull in a steady 0.03 BTC per block at BitClockers.
Right now I've pushed the core clock of my HD6750 to 865mhz (max is 870) and I'm getting 171Mhashes/s
950 m/hash baby, granted 3 5850s and 1 4650
950 m/hash baby, granted 3 5850s and 1 4650
How much do you average per week on that?
How much do you average per week on that?
errr stick it in the caculator it'll show you, it changes as weeks go by and difficulty rises. (I sure you already knew that I'm just too lazy to work it out)
uhh.
Would somebody buy me the Humble Indie pack 3 or whatever.

wow that's a really good game!
[editline]31st July 2011[/editline]
my fucking luck is shit
I prefer https://betco.in/
Lost $60 in those gambling games :(
Decided to join one at the end of the day after it started earlier that day, it was going on for a whole week. Felt so sure I'd make something since the ratio was so low.
Nah, lost everything. Little did I know after 100 people within the first hour deposit into this pyramid game, it becomes almost impossible to win anything even if you have 5 days to cover the cost and a very low bet. I was trying to win back my BTC that tradehill had somehow lost in the void.
It didn't help that the fucking game creator decided to start a second round in the middle of the round I played in, which garunteed that I lost all my money as everyone jumped onto the new round.
Should I be expecting more than 99mhashes from a GTX 570?
no

Look there, scroll down to GTX 570 try some of the settings they have to get higher.

0.02 flat or no deal, it's like walking into a store and telling the clerk you'll pay $1 for a PS3
I want to start mining, what program/pool should I use to mine?
BitClockers; GUIMiner/Phoenix (if you're into command line stuff, go for Phoenix, but for simple mining go with GUIMiner)
I don't get this, Can you actually spend the bitcoins you earned?
You can sell the bitcoins for cash on some sites. Some websites also have an option to buy with bitcoins.
I figured out how to increase my Mhash from 100 to 250 using CUDA! :D
right now i'm not mining because the BTC/GBP ratio is quite shit.
I'm not mining because it's summer and I dislike waking up with heatstroke every morning.
