The higher the better.
1440x900 is something I'd expect from a laptop.
I run 1680x1050 on my desktop.
Stick with 16:10, though.
I'm surprised no one's really said anything about screen size. I'd say 1440x900 is fine for a smaller display (my laptop has a 15.4" 16:10 display and runs at that) but for larger screens you're going to want a larger resolution.

any particular reason other than "the /g/imps said so"
How much do 1440x900 moniters go for?
I have 2 1280x1024s
any particular reason other than "the /g/imps said so"
1920x1200 is obviously better than 1920x1080
Woah ok..... How much is a 1080p monitor these days?
[editline]12:21AM[/editline]
1440 is not worthy of a GTX 470
Hey come on.... it's still better than 720p and at least I get more fps than usual...
Is 1440x900 basically the middle ground between 720p and 1080p?
1920x1200 is obviously better than 1920x1080
that's like saying a 5970 is better than a 470
saying 16:10 is worse than 16:9 is like saying ati is better than nvidia
I would prefer 16:9, all that widescreeness is good...
that's like saying a 5970 is better than a 470

no 1920x1200 is obviously better than 1920x1080, but 1920x1080 is still better than 1680x1050, and 1600x900 is still better than 1440x900
really though it comes down to price. Because 16:10 is stupid expensive right now, if I'm paying I'll gladly take 1920x1080 over 1920x1200
no 1920x1200 is obviously better than 1920x1080, but 1920x1080 is still better than 1680x1050, and 1600x900 is still better than 1440x900
you basically just said what I said
my 19" 1680 x 1050 acer monitor seems to be the best 'bang for your buck'. It cost me around $130 new about a year or 2 ago. It isn't sold on newegg anymore so i couldn't tell you how much it would cost now, but it's cheap i imagine. The high res on the small screen just looks nice. But tbh, if i could i would go for a 23" 1920 x 1200/1080 screen.
I would atleast get a 1680x1050. Might just be me but I can't stand lower resolutions.
Currently using a 30'' screen though (2560x1680) :smug:
Yeah op get a 16:9 1920x1080 or a 16:10 1920x1200. It'll utilize your card much more, and you'll end up loving it. Get a 22-24" monitor.
3840x1080 right here
I wouldn't be able to stand a resolution that small.
no 1920x1200 is obviously better than 1920x1080, but 1920x1080 is still better than 1680x1050, and 1600x900 is still better than 1440x900
No 1920x1200 is bigger. But not always better. 1920x1080 is good for gamers, since the extra horizontal space of the screen fits perfectly to your eyes (which as you probably know, see things in a panoramic aspect ). So the image is more native to your eyes.
having an extra 120 pixels in the height can make a big difference in the FOV, which in turn can make a big difference in games.
Of course it is all a matter of personal preference, I went from 4:3 (1024x768) to 16:9 (1600x900) and I can't stand to see 4:3, or 16:9 monitors. They just seem way too... box-ish.
I have a 1920x1080 and I'd go nowhere but up.
Maybe I'll get a 30" 2560x1600 one day.

Don't waste a monitor, just get 2 more... like me :D
I may be a bastard but I think 1920x1200 is too small.

Are you anti multi monitor?
My LCD is 1440x900, and I love it... but I want 1920x1080, like my TV.
720x576?
720x576?
Or maybe this. Resolution is shitty anyways.
I have 1440x900, but dual monitors, so works well for me.
1366x768. Barely HD but I don't give a damn. I'm happy.
I have two Samsung Syncmaster 940BW's.
2880 x 900 is nice.
My laptop has 1600x900 (or something along that lines) and its awesome, but my desktop has an old monitor limited to 1280x1024. Its really a BIG difference.
