I once sent a copy of the report the Resultant Set of Policy program (generates a list of all restrictions on the system) to the printer right in the IT department's office. 90 pages of NOTHING BUT POINTLESS RESTRICTIONS that ruin the systems. And the first page said "Here is why you spend so much time "fixing" computers: Because you lock them down to the point where they're unusable".
When I feel like being asshole with my mates we so something similar (not for any reason thought) by adding printers to a certain rooms list, finding a massive pointless text document then sending it to another department, due to the school restrictions only the IT teachers can cancel printing documents and I doubt teachers would even know how to, so on a bad day the Geography department will end up with 200 sheets of A4 printing with everything else waiting for it to print, fun times.
A rather humorous conversation with one of my many, MANY computer illiterate friends: me: So what kinda comp you got? him: Oh, it's awesome! me: specs? him: It's got 2 processors (I can forgive him for that, seeing as a dual-core is essentially 2 processors combined) me: What speed? him: one's 3 ghz and one's 5. me: dude, that's not even possible. him: you're just jealous cause your comp isn't as good as mine. when he showed me his full specs, he had 2 gigs ram, 250 gb harddisc and some shitty onboard graphics. He claimed it outperforms the latest graphics cards 'because I fully updated the drivers so it kicks ass'. I laughed loudly while he wasn't there. Edit: slightly unrelated, but did I mention my friend who thought the shop made a mistake when he saw that he got an 8 gig ipod 'while it says 4g on the box'?
I believe... that we should all turn emo because of this.
Today at school some guy said he plays Halo 3 on his computer. I basically said "bullshit". So then he goes on to say that PCs and Xbox 360 games are backwards compatible and that 360s are PCs because they have, and I quote, "High end RAMs, fast CPUs and processors, fast graphics cards, and they're connected to the internet". Seriously, that's exactly what he said. I facepalmed right there.
First one Halo 3 is available on PC.Though games are not backwards compatible. Second, Xboxs are PCs they are named Xbox due to the fact that PCs are referred to as X86 Boxes... they operate exactly as a PC they just have their own GUI. The 360 Also has NIC Also dont come back with X86 is Intel... because i already know this... so until Microsoft starts using AMD or VIA or Cyrix microprocessors... this is correct. You made yourself look ignorant to people who have the intellect. So do yourself favor and stop treating people like they are less than you when clearly you and this kid have the same mentality.
If you say Halo 3 is playable on PC because the Xbox 360 is essentially just a PC, you're just avoiding the actual meaning of 'PC'.
Personal Computer? As in something that can be used in the home to compute things? Like a game console in your living room computing a game?

First off, Xboxs are not PCs. With that logic, I could call anything a PC. Second, X86 refers to the 32bit architecture, not whatever you're trying to say. Third, NIC means network interface card. I'm not really sure why that's relevent, but whatever.
Also dont come back with X86 is Intel... because i already know this... so until Microsoft starts using AMD or VIA or Cyrix microprocessors... this is correct.
This whole sentence makes no sense.
You made yourself look ignorant to people who have the intellect. In fact, we are friends. You're making yourself look like an ignorant ass.

Anyway, my mom is currently saying we can't have a 22 inch widescreen monitor, even thogh my reasons are valid and we're getting a new PC in a week. I think that because our last monitor was a 20" monster the size of a house (CRT), she instantly equates a size like 20" with 'dominating the whole room'. COME THE FUCK ON. I mean, she says it'll look ugly but I think it would help fill the void between the edges of our (15" :crying: )current monitor. I can't even approach her with reason any mroe because once she's made up her mind, anyone who disagrees with her is going to get their head bitten off, regardless of how right they are. Edit:
You know what this means don't you? You must dedicate your life to becoming the greatest IT tech ever.
SUPERNERD REPORTING FOR DUTY, SIR. Oh, and I found an intriguing exploit in the school system today. Access to the C:\ drive on all computers has been disallowed, but I can actually circumvent this by going to 'Sample Pictures' (I don't know why they left it on there, to be honest), and pressing the 'back up' button (also left in) until I get to C:\. I then proceeded to find HAL.dll and hover my finger over the delete key with it selected. The feeling of power was immense. There is a girl in my IT class who thinks I'm the messiah (no I'm not a very naughty boy) because I built a computer. Our school added that too for the same reason, ironically they still advertise selling Flash drives on the school bulletin despite the fact you can't use them. They tried to block all computer settings but the Technicians aren't as good as 10 IT pupils who have lessons to waste because the teacher refuses to move forwards.
You need to use your superior intellect to convince this girl to give you a blowjob.
See, this thread is the reason why people hate nerds so much. you have a lack of any concept of "tolerance"
Yeah, but when you have to explain something to someone twenty fucking times and they STILL don't get it, it becomes hard to tolerate.
At that point they're probably fucking with you because they don't care as much as you. Just because they don't jerk off to ddr3 ram and quad core procs doesn't mean they're stupid. no offense meant. and to be honest they'd think anyone on this board who mocks them about sports or whatever by acting stupid about it to truly be stupid too. it works both ways.
Oh come on let us drop this topic and let it die. I do not think that it doesn't matter anymore about how we are "intolerant" of computer ignorant people. But it is still a bit funny to hear few of the stories though.
I love it how most people here don't realize that "Giga" is really 1024 units. I.e. 2GB = 2048 MB != 2000 MB. I'm not saying all of you do this, but when I see someone complaining about illiterate people and they use the incorrect figures it makes me:
Also dont come back with X86 is Intel... because i already know this... so until Microsoft starts using AMD or VIA or Cyrix microprocessors... this is correct.
It's always nice to know things that aren't true. Edit:
I love it how most people here don't realize that "Giga" is really 1024 units. I.e. 2GB = 2048 MB != 2000 MB. It's 1000 for anything else.
There is this one kid on my bus, who I occasionally make small talk with. Anyways, one day we started talking about computers and this is how our conversation went.
Him: What computer do you have? Me: AMD 5200+, 3GB RAM 250GB HDD 2 9600GT's SLI and a 650W PSU, Him: HOLY SHIT MAN, THAT MUST COST A LOT! Me: not really, around 700-800 dollars. Him: Bullshit, those bridges for the cards costs thousands, and the motherboards for those things cost at lest $3000! Me:uh. are you talking about the SLI bridge? Him: No, the cable to bridge them, dumb ass Me: uh, ha ha, sure. Him: I've got a 5500 Radion HD! Jealous?! Me: Wait, isn't Radion an older series? Him: NO, I bridged them and now I can outperform anything! Me: uh huh, what is your CPU speed? Him: Oh, I got a dual core, one at 3.5 GHz and the other at 6 Ghz.
At this point, I raged. :ssj: God, I hate how computer illiterate people at my school are.:argh:
You can't really blame them, Bytes are the only term that really use the 1024 definition. It's 1000 for anything else.
I can if this is a thread complaining about the illiteracy rate of most people these days with computers is very low when the people complaining don't know the basic information about computers. Anyone who has taken 5 minutes of a computer programming class knows about bytes and bits and how they are different. Edit:
At this point, I raged. :ssj: God, I hate how computer illiterate people at my school are.:argh:
The only thing I hate more than people that are illiterate with computers are people that think they aren't illiterate. When I was young and naive I well knew how much I didn't know about computers. Back then however, my computer was an Apple IIGS and I played sim ant.

Anyone who has taken 5 minutes of a computer programming class knows about bytes and bits and how they are different.
Well I'm not saying it's good, just that it's not something to get worked up about. Hell HDD manufactures don't even use the proper definition of size. Also there is no general difference between a bit and a byte, it's platform specific. It's usually 8 bits to a byte but it can change.
I'm not intolerant of computer illiterates, myself. I'm only intolerant of the people who think they know when they don't.
Right. B.T.W. HI JUSTICE!
One of my teachers (who sometimes watches me play games during class) will want to use my laptop sometimes to do stuff on while I'm working since her computer broke, and she thought that my computer was nice because of programs that I downloaded on it.
I'm not intolerant of computer illiterates, myself. I'm only intolerant of the people who think they know when they don't.
this
Ya you are right dude. Like for example, a person comes to school and he's just like DUDE I GOT A NEW COMP! IT'S GOT LIKE 1000 GBs AND IT's GOT LIKE THE BEST GRAPHICS CARD A GeForce 7600 GS!! It really pisses me off, cause they think they know so much, but they don't know what anything means, all they know is that more GB must mean it's better.
There was this guy who came to my house one time who needed help with his E-Mail and I asked him "what browser do you use" and he said "I use Bellsouth". I couldn't believe my ears...
Well I'm not saying it's good, just that it's not something to get worked up about. Hell HDD manufactures don't even use the proper definition of size.
Well, I find it more 'clean' to call it 4GB instead of calling it 4.1 GB
4 096 MB= 4GB

Notice how I didn't say wrong, just that it's not proper. For example measuring speed in Furlong/Fortnight isn't wrong but it is not proper either.
Hmm funny I can live off 20gb, I usually play 1 game at a time (Like play one game for like a month get bored, find a new one) and even vista plus something won't take that up, I don't have 20gb I have 620gb but just making a point. They probably need that for their 460gb of porn :-P Also I hate people at my school saying they got a new pc Example:
OH MA GAWD I GOT A NEW COMPUTER THETS 80 TIMES BETTER THAN YOUR PIECE OF SHIET, ITS GAWT 3450 VIDEO CAERDS (hd3450 which none-the less sucks compared to mine) SO SUCK SHIET YOU FCKER YOU THINK YOU KNOW MOER ABUOT COMPUTORS THAN ME!
Me:
Wow congratulations for sucking shit. there is no possible way your computer can have 3450 gpu's (then their like wtf is a gpu, so i explain) your talking about a hd3450 made by ati, they suck they only difference it has is that it's got a better shader module and direct x. I bet you don't even know how to over-clock it, The 7600gt is better than that, Well mine is because it's overclocked, you dimwitted numskullish mingbagging scamming fuckwit.
Then their just like:
OMG YOU ARE SUCH A N00B GET A LIEF DICK
It pisses me off to no end. Edit: oh if you want more store's this site's good http://rinkworks.com/stupid/

It's just that when I try to explain something politely and slowly, without any jargon, people will just try and fucking talk over me. So, I have to act like an asshole to get my point across.
