I can't stand talking to computer illiterate people about computers.
You say and speak stupid things.
I'm one of the only people who is good at using a computer in my IT class. I AM the only one advanced enough to know programming and have the ability to build a custom rig.
It rather annoys me when they speak stupidity.
I was in my IT class a few days ago and someone asked:
"How do you open the start menu?"
I smashed my head on the desk when I heard that.
Apparently I have no life according to all of the classes i'm in because I have more free time and I choose to use it to program. I tell them I don't have free time. It's how I get paid!
lol, that reminds me of something. When we had to go to "laptop classes" at the beginning of the year (a complete waste of a day -.-), there was this girl who make the "class" slower than it should be...
"Ok, now, on your desktop, if you go to your documents..."
"Wait, where is the desktop?"
or
"Open my computer, and go to..."
"Wait! Wheres my computer?"
"*oh god*. Right here."
"No, thats says my pc.."
and i swear to god she wasnt trying to be funny.
(ps, i hate the laptop. It sucks, and you cant customize it in anyway. Also, it doesnt wake from stanby anymore...which i will try and fix someday.
pps, its a lenovo r400)
I hate it when people who get "memory" and "hard disk space" mixed up, as well as "download" and "install."
My mom is forcing me to delete half the HD to make the internet go faster :sigh:
And she can't seem to understand that IE is the worst internet browser you could possibly use.
Yes I agree. This doesn't only happen in the subject of computers though.
People like this piss fuck out of me but I have learned to live with it.
I can't stand people using Firefox, Chrome, Opera or any other browser, Internet Explorer is fine as it is, I mean we're just browsing the internet, so why do we need more?
I can't stand people using Firefox, Chrome, Opera or any other browser, Internet Explorer is fine as it is, I mean we're just browsing the internet, so why do we need more?
Internet explorer is slow as mollasus in January.
Internet explorer is slow as mollasus in January.
lol
mollasus
I've used Firefox, it's bloated and used too much memory, Chrome is insecure and Opera is just confusing.
It's not that bad. I rage at work sometimes.
Just the other day I had someone coming in that had a problem with her cell phone battery. I had to explain what, "drain the battery until it's dead," meant multiple times. In the end she said (direct quote), "Ohh, so you mean let the battery die, and then let it charge for a full 24 hours?"
In my head I was thinking, "Yes, that's what I said to you the first four times. What did I say to make it click? Why do you not know the basic terminology of the technology at first and then suddenly understand it?"
InternetExplorer is a troll.
I'm not a troll, I'm just a user, I apoligize I shouldn't say something is bad instantly.
Here's how it goes: Upper Computer Literates > Computer Literates > Computer Illiterates > Computer Illiterates That Act Like They Know Everything.
i'm in the "Computer Literates" section. i know a lot about computers but theres some stuff i dont know. except you guys will prolly call me a noob for not knowing this: is GHz like processor speed? cuz in my monitor settings theres a tab where you can change Hertz and i dont see the point of that...
Completely.
Fucking.
Agree.
It's so goddamn annoying to talk to computer illiterate people.
Makes me RRRRAAAGGGEEEE
http://www.rinkworks.com/stupid
Fuck that stuff in that site makes me rage.
Not you guys.
The people who buy from dell never need 500 GB.
My mom's had her dell with a 40 GB hard drive for 4 years, and she's never had to delete anything.
i had a 2002 dell dimension 2400 75gig for 7 years and i had to delete stuff constantly and another thing ITS YOUR MOM!!!
plus you shouldnt be judging anybody dude. you dont know everybody and what they want or need.
What I hate more is speaking to a computer literate person, then a computer illiterate person butts in and makes a retarded comment.
E.g.
Me: 'Hey dude, I just ordered some more RAM for my PC'
PC Guy: 'Awesome, how much was it?'
Idiot: 'LOLOL RAM? Why the fuck are you buying sheep?'

Oh I hate the IT managers at my school.
We got relatively nice screens, small but fast computers.
Dual core 3.2ghz, some decent graphics card I can't remember name of, and 512mb ram.
They run fast, but if you even try multitasking, it fucks up.
They are still running windows XP SP 1, even though they came out a lot later than windows vista.
All the computers run IE, with a custom server system. Each time you log on you need to install Firefox on that computer, on that user account.
Yeah, the same thing at MY school...fucking idiots :/
There is only 1 pc with vista, but i think that they dont let you use it :/
What I hate more is speaking to a computer literate person, then a computer illiterate person butts in and makes a retarded comment.

lol ha that was funny :P
Commodore amiga 1200, 500mb hard drive and 2mb of ram :D
beat that, works perfectly.
Yea, lots of people confuse Ghz with GB.
And my mom thinks the pc will run faster if she removes stuff from the HD. Lol...
every computer illiterate person thinks that haha
i'm in the "Computer Literates" section. i know a lot about computers but theres some stuff i dont know. except you guys will prolly call me a noob for not knowing this: is GHz like processor speed? cuz in my monitor settings theres a tab where you can change Hertz and i dont see the point of that...
Well, at least you're a literate. :D
Hertz is a measure of frequency. Frequency, how Wikipedia puts it, "is the number of occurrences of a repeating event per unit time." For example, bouncing a ball contiounusly has a frequency of some sort.
The frequency at which a processor operates is called a clock rate, which is typically measured in Hertz. Todays processors are clocked at in intervals of GHz - which is 1,000,000,000 (1 Billion) Hertz.
CRT Monitors (which you probably have, am I right) work by constantly redrawing the data the computer gives it. The speed...or well, frequency at the monitor redraws is called the Refresh rate. Being as it is a frequency, it is measured in Hertz, which explains why that is on your settings :P
Lower Refresh rate frequencies, I believe, uses less energy but cause a noticable flickering effect because it dosen't redraw the image nearly as quick. Higher Refresh rates use more power, but removes the flickering problem. Typically your monitor should be at...60-70 Hz, I believe.
I hope I didn't lose you, I tried my best in explaining it :P
I at least hope some sense out of it...
The thing is, my father knows a lot about computers or at least enough. The thing is, he treats them poorly though. He keeps at least 20 windows open at once. Mostly Firefox windows, each with about 10 tabs open.
He has about 90 processes running at any given time as well.
He should fucking know better. He's an engineer and deals with computers every day. He many not know the hardware components like I do, but he sure knows his software. He knows more programming languages than I do (which is not saying much since I only know VB), can configure BIOS, set user policies, and some of the more slightly more advanced stuff.

I hate people who do that (Like my teachers). At most I'll have 1 Chrome window with maybe 5-6 tabs. Having the taskbar full of windows just makes it look messy.
I was in PC world a good couple years ago, and I overheard a couple talking to the sales assistant. They were looking to buy a desktop PC, and the gentleman said, and I quote;
"Will 1GB of memory be enough for my CD collection?"
I laughed mighty hard to myself that day.

Well... does he use all of them?
Careful, if you drop that window it'll smash at the bottom of the screen.
... you know, it would be awesome if someone wrote a program that did that (made windows fall and smash at the bottom of the screen). Great way to freak out your computer illiterate friends.
Well, have you heard of the Cascade virus? Although that was for MS-DOS, back in the day :P
I'm lucky, at my school, most everyone knows I know more about computers than them. But, there are some kids. DAMN THEM. HARD DRIVE SPACE ISN'T MEMORY.
EDIT: Another form of people I hate. Tech people. My school has a Dell desktop that's broken, and he comes in, looks at it for half an hour, and leaves, saying it needs to be reformatted. Is that their answer to everything?

You need to give these school tech guys a break, especially since only god knows what the hell every smart ass kid is doing on the machines. Quite frankly it's easier for them to pop in a boot disk and just re-image the whole machine than it is to troubleshoot something that punks are just going to mess up again anyway. I mean what you you rather do? Fiddle with the thing to try and get it working or literally pop in a CD and walk away for 15 minutes. You're still going to get your pay at the end of the day so why not go do it the easy way.

Just looked it up :v:

You're lucky, one of the computers in the graduate office where I work got a virus, so our tech guy just put a "Do not turn on" sign on it and forgot about it.
If I hadn't installed Ubuntu (without permission) on the third computer to replace an ancient version of Gentoo, we'd only have a single usable machine.

I actually keep knoppix on a usb drive on the keyring with my house keys, just in case. then when I run it at school everyone goes "whoa is that osx?"
