I can't stand talking to computer illiterate people about computers.
Seriously.
Especially with kids at my school unless they know their shit.
Like if I tell someone "Hey I got a new computer", they try to act all smart and say "How much hard drive space does it have? :c00l:".
I then say 300 gigs is all I need, and they go "HAHA, I have 500 gigs!, you got ripped off!"
I can't stand this.
I only need 300 gigs.
Then I ask them about other hardware, like the video card, and they just go "" and I say, I have a 3870x2, and then they go ":confused:" and just walk away, thinking to them selves that I'm an idiot for buying this computer because it doesn't have as much hard drive space.
Why this bothers me:
1. They think I'm an idiot for spending more and not getting as much hard drive space as their 3 year old machine
2. They go around telling people that I'm a computer illiterate moron (EG. "Dude, this guy thinks he got a good computer, but he only got 300 gigs HAHAH!" "REALLY?!" "YEAH" "HAHHA WHAT A MORON")
I know, right?
And sites like srtest.com
Oh my gawd. you are noob. You only has 512MB video ram, you can't run crysis ha ha nooblet you need 768 or you are sux.
Edit:
I can type quicker than anyone else in my school, frankly I'm a god to the juniors and a know it all and super technician about anything, the teacher once asked *Why isn't this damn video streaming!* everyone pointed at me "HE KNOWS!" I said *maybe...press the play button? :downs:*
"Oh...right!" :v:
Yeah i'm the same way, at least in my grade.. not sure bout the freshman, juniors, or seniors. But anyways yeah the TV wasn't working one day when i was taking a test outside, (they were playing a movie in the DVD player) and so they call like the school technician, a junior, and he comes in and he's like "Oh you need to use the lens cleaner on the DVD" i come in turning in my test at that moment to hear him say that I was like what's the problem and the teacher explained it, and I was like lol? and I just kinda go to the back of the comp, like tighten the audio plug, and umm. that kinda fixes it. :P
I agree, I just finished building a computer and it was pretty high end because I do 3d modelling and such, and when I told them how much it cost they all flipped out and said:
"Why didn't you just get a Dell? They are way cheaper and just as good! You're an idiot!"
"Ha! Only 4 gigs of RAM? I have like 400!"
Then I made an attempt at explaining the difference between Hard Drive space and RAM... it didn't work.
Oh well, I guess its the curse of not being completely retarded when it comes to computers...
Well technically they could turn their entire hard drive into a huge swapfile partition and have 400 GB of painfully SLOW memory, but don't let them know that.
I own a dell... from 1999.
It still runs.
I have a 8088 from 198x and it still runs with its 50M SASI drive.
I own a packard bell. 1994?
Still runs.
Has a 3GB HDD. So it can't be any good. Except the fantastic 486 and the 3 sticks of PB EDORAM (12MB each)
Might want to trash that memory, there is no such thing as a 12M stick of RAM, unless those are bad sticks of 16M and they're all missing 4M.
I had a friend once and he wanted to play WoW. I used to play but had quit at that time but told him to go for it it was a good game. HE tried to run it on hi laptop and it ran horribly (3-10fps) when going to some troubleshooting page it told him he didn't have enough RAM. So he deleted EVERYTHING oh his laptop and was very confused when it didn't work :downs:

Possibly bad, if you can remember Packard Bell, they were a few steps away from quality.
But it's the real RAM module. One side prints (8MB) the other side prints (4MB). 8+4=12. I even looked up on this, these are standard ram for the computer.
I hate people that get Ghz and GB confused.
I can easily live off of 150, maybe less.
Who honestly needs 500 GB?
I need that much... When it comes to uncompressed Fraps video files they can add up to 350GB in a month within productiion
Edit:
I remember the time my friend told me vista was better because it was shiny. then i showed him Xp's Royale theme and he became extremely confused ever since.
I hate my friends. One of them said "I upgraded a Windows 95 laptop to Vista!" So I told him to show me and he said "I can't. I don't know where it is."
*Facepalm*
People who buy amazingly expensive computers just for MSN, web browsing and music.
Why oh why?
One of my friends has a quad core CPU pre-built computer bought from... Best Buy. What is even worse is that he rarely uses it, and when he does he only uses MSN, Microsoft Word, some game named Gunz.
My friends think they know alot about computers, but know shit. It really irritates me too. I asked if anyone bought vista lately and a kid said "Is that some sort of new firewire or somethin'?" And I facepalmed.

It's most likely that's parity memory. In that case the 4 MB is the parity and really doesn't count, so that makes it a bunch of 8M sticks.
Yeah my friend got his RAM and Hard drive space mixed up thought he had 250 GB of RAM
Some of these Comments would make me rage if I remember my account for it:
http://kotaku.com/5016624/rumor-trioxide-to-allow-console-games-to-be-played-on-pc
Because they think you need top of the line hardware when also they forget it could be done better with better coding as well.
Also it also makes me rage that someone thinks the Xbox 360 is running Windows. Xbox was for fact running a Win2k Kernel [P3 processor and a Geforce 3 or 2], but that was because it was built on short notice compared to the Xbox 360.
Some bullshit about Cell Processor, more bullshit on GPUs, etc etc for some reason, dear goodness why.
Edit:
Some do have a ball park idea and some actually know what there talking about but then again most of them compared to the smarts ones are in short order.
Person 1: "I gave my PC a bath because I thought they needed a wash like cars. Everytime I try turning it on, nothing happens. Whats wrong with this crap?"
Assistant: "facepalm.jpg"
My friends know I know a lot more about computers than them.
I've had two ask me to build for them :v:

Well thanks. Now you're telling me that 12MB of my RAM is pointless on my 486 computer.
Thanks :(

I hope you mean 'they'... either that or you're talking to yourself.
I hope you mean 'they'... either that or you're talking to yourself.
No he's not, that's a completely normal sentence...
Oh wait your talking about the other sentence...
Yea that's wierd...
Which sentence?
Which sentence?
None, I just figured it out...
All of your sentences are completely normal...
Well guys, nerds, I bet people hate when you talk about things that you are illiterate and ignorant at. Like sports for example.
Well guys, nerds, I bet people hate when you talk about things that you are illiterate and ignorant at. Like sports for example.
Yes, because we all know that every single computer literate person knows exactly nothing about sports. At all.
Well guys, nerds, I bet people hate when you talk about things that you are illiterate and ignorant at. Like sports for example.
 sports? Seriously? What's so complexed and fucking special about SPORTS?
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
You can't make a career out of it, we "nerds" or "geeks" can make a career out of what we know, and get paid damn well. You, knowing sports gets you a pat on the back and a BSOD.

*cough*People who play professional sports get paid a hell of a lot more than computer technicians / Scientists / engineers.
*cough*People who play professional sports get paid a hell of a lot more than computer technicians / Scientists / engineers.
True, but it's a hell of a lot easier to land a job in the IT field.
I own a Dell Inspiron 530.
I am Computer Savvy enough to OC the Q6600 in mine Dell to 3.0Ghz even though the BIOs is locked.
Enough to help people at LAN Parties when I used to do them.
Hack mine router and recover from a bad flash.
Enough to install more hardware.
Also enough to only buy it from Dell since it was cheap with a combo deal with a monitor [hardware and monitor alone is worth more than the computer it self (580USD)]
Then I have tons of games.
I also backup my laptop on this computer as well, I do photo editing, video converting, etc. I also download as well, I store mine camera photos and movies I record onto my PC.
It would be nice if you could tell me how to overclock a Dell.
I got an XPS 420 simply because it was cheaper then building on here (Japan) and it came with a 24 inch screen that I instantly fell in love with.
Anyways my Q6600 is still stuck at 2.4GHz, so I was wondering how to overclock it. If it involves actually messing with the motherboard directly through jumpers and the like though, then never mind.
*cough*People who play professional sports get paid a hell of a lot more than computer technicians / Scientists / engineers.
Um, there are VERY little people who play professional sports. To do that, you have to be absurdly good in the highly competitive world of sports. Meanwhile there is an endless avalanche of dumbasses who can't operate a computer, opening up shitloads of IT jobs.
Well guys, nerds, I bet people hate when you talk about things that you are illiterate and ignorant at. Like sports for example.
I circumnavigate this by NOT TALKING ABOUT SPORTS.
Problem solved.
*cough*People who play professional sports get paid a hell of a lot more than computer technicians / Scientists / engineers.
Yes, for what? less than 10 years? Wow! We can work up till retirement of 65, and get paid all of those years. Amazing fact.
Not to mention the chances of us landing a job as a computer tech, computer/electrical engineer (I would assume that would also land under scientist..). Last year I had the chance to move to china for the next 5 years and make about $750,000 tax free every year. Doing what? Electrical engineer for their new nuclear facilities under construction.
baseball players make about 250k more than that everyyear in their peak of their career (And if they are that good). And don't mention american football players. Please, I rather come back with tumors instead of being brain-dead due to concussions.
The truth of the story is that, me being computer literate, knowledge in electrical engineering and computer sciences; I could get one hell of a job. Here (USA) or elsewhere. I have dual citizenships with America and Ireland (Allowing freedom to pack my bags and leave for the EU). I can get paid top dollar out here at about 120k a year, for working a 8hour 8-4 monday through friday job. And my chances of getting a job like that is higher than of somebody being inclined in sports. You have a MUCH smaller chance in getting in the major leagues, of either football (US), Baseball, or basketball. Sure, if you get lucky you can score even more money than what I would make a year. But within 10 years, you can be out of a job working fast food. Unless you somehow captured the minds of americans, you can capitalize on your name. Why degrade yourself to be a consumer whore?
Oh well, always better to be computer nerd/geek. I have a chance at going somewhere, and staying their longer than some sports moron. And on other notes, I DO NOT, make conversation about sports. I talk very little about them, I am not inclined on them. So I don't go around making conversations sounding stupid about sports.
I DO NOT, make conversation about sports. I talk very little about them, I am not inclined on them. So I don't go around making conversations sounding stupid about sports.
This, too. Most self-respecting tech-geeks are smart enough NOT to get involved in conversations about something they are ill-informed on. I will watch sports sometimes, and I know how most of the games are played...but I don't talk about them much either. I simply don't know a whole lot, and I would rather not make a fool of myself.

Dude relax, I'm just saying that you can have a carrier in sports. I don't and never will, it's just that you can. Don't get all uptight about it.
Reminds me of my friend today. He was talking about how he's going to get crysis because I have it. I laughed telling him he won't be able to run it (I know his pc isn't good enough) and he tried to tell me his PC was good and could play it. So I asked him what specs he had "Lol, I dunno but it is good" *facepalmed* I'm not even going to tell him agian, I'll just elt him waste his money and get annoyed at crysis because of "that game runs really bad".
Apparently he told one of my other mates later "What does he know anyway?" quite amusing to me.. A lot more than him . Unfortunately he's another one of the I bought it for a bit of money from Dell therefore its excellent.
