Yeah, internet's shit here. But hopefully the national broadband plan will actually give us reasonable pings (Wow, not 250ms to america, That's a big fucking change) only real good ISP is TPG and thats only for their internet access, everything else is incredibly overpriced. Example. Webhosting. I shit you not for 500mb it's $3000AUD a year.
You also goto count in domain name hosting and setup.

See for yourself, Then you have to pay extra's It's insane.
You're an idiot.
[editline]07:01AM[/editline]
You're exactly like that kid minus the leethax and I haven't seen a single intelligent post from you.

Grammar lesson.
Punctuation goes in the quotes.
"Also, you can't spell 'unique,' or 'listen.' You're an idiot."
I posted that on my iPod touch in a rush, and we all make grammar mistakes sometimes.

So it's OK when you make a mistake, but not when he does?
http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=983221
This is what happens when you post upgrade requests in the Tech Support forum. You get bottom of the barrel quality responses.

Seriously how the fuck did they not pick up on him "upgrading" to a pentium 4 on post #1.
Read that whole thread, we found out he was a fucking retard who wanted to downgrade his computer and didn't know directx11 existed. And I laughed when the guy posted 2.3x2=4.6 GHz
Know my dickarse brother with more than he deserved?
His GFX Card broke, less than five weeks after purchase.
Unfortunately he fixed it and overclocked it to 1gb ram!!!!(What.)
I hope it explodes in his face
So this thread has turned from laughing at computer illiterates to raiding them?
How exciting !
Shows how bad the H&S has gotten.

You should take the ram out of his computer and snap it in half
or put it in yours

Will you please shut the fuck up about your brother? You just spam this thread with stories that don't even have the slightest bit of tech illiteracy in them, so you can bitch to the facepunch community that your brother is a dick.
Also, I probably could've worded that nicer, but I'm cranky.
No better, go on his comp and fuck with the bios

Remove CPU heatsink, take CPU, hide CPU, put heatsink back.
Then watch as he rages and desperately tries to see what's wrong.
I feel like a dick for posting that thing now, as it took over like 2 pages

That's... BEAUTIFUL! I never thought of it, but now it feels so obvious... yet makes so hard to find where's the problem...
Still, some heatsinks and GPUs are a bitch to remove, so better have plenty of time before attempting this prank...

Most CPU's will just drop out unless they're secured by a heatsink, i've never had a problem getting one out.

775 cpu's won't, 1366 cpu's won't, AM2 cpu's won't and AM3 cpu's won't.
Which cpu's are you referring to which will fall out if not secured by a heatsink?
Actually, which would be more destructive? Not saying we should pull some remote PSU switch shit, not physically damaging, but just make this kid realize he doesn't have a fucking clue
And I'm still liking the idea of partitioning any of his harddrives 50 or so times, is that even possible with a .bat?
i was thinking of making a small application that fucks with his Hosts file redirecting him to various sites when he tries to use certain URLs. Considering he is a illiterate 12 year old he won't know how to fix that.
Just tried opening that 42.zip in a virtual machine with winrar and the built in archive tool and it only unzips one 'level' of zips, so unless you were a complete fucktard you'd never fill your disk up as you'd be bored shitless first.
Fail.
If you have a AV with a resident shield that opens archives when they are downloaded, that is when it will get you. Most AVs will go through every folder/ archive inside an archive and decompress them to check for nasties unless the option is disabled.
So my friend had this great idea (read: I had a great idea and he took it as his own) about how to make a different type of laptop that would give it all the benefits of a desktop and a laptop at the same time. So he drew up some "specifications" and sent them to me in a .pdf.

Note that he is trying to get a patent on this.
[editline]02:12PM[/editline]
This was my idea and I still don't know what is going on.

Find me an av on the market today that would get caught out by 42.zip or any zip bomb for that matter. Seriously, I'll wait, all day if I have to.

I was clearing out the dust in a heatsink, on a dual core PC (guessing the socket was a 755) and it was pretty easy to get the chip out. When I say 'fall out' I don't literally mean that if you tipped it upside down, it would fall to the ground. I was just trying to point out that it isn't as much of a bitch to get out as jimhowl33t implied...

No worries, I just wondered if you were referring to an older cpu which didn't use a zif socket and if so which one.
:Psyduck:
:psyboom: <- Is more appropriate.
No worries, I just wondered if you were referring to an older cpu which didn't use a zif socket and if so which one.
Not sure if a Pentium 4 comes under that category, but I was taking apart an old Dell a couple of years ago, and the CPU in that was really flimsy and (I didn't check to see) would probably fall out if it was turned upside-down.

Most AVs do pick them up now thankfully. But 42.zip was aimed at when they couldn't do so (or just did a bad job). If you were somehow dumb enough to keep that old a AV running without a single update then you pretty much deserve it. I wasn't saying it will get you now, but I was pointing out it wasn't designed for the user to pick through one by one.

Mine does.
I work in a charity shop at the moment, we had some guy hand in Windows '95 install dicks, a disk for Encarta from '99 and a copy of Warhawk for the playstation, I chucked the rest out and took Warhawk for myself, it's in perfect condition with the manual and everything. :buddy:
Windows '95 install dicks? I didn't know microsoft was in the porn business.
