Oh, i've been searching for 8800 GTX benchmarks to show off if it's capable of proper performance on those resolutions. still too early to conclude anything. Those resolutions WEREN'T mainstream back then. we're talking back when we were still on the edge about the whole HD "age" and it was about the same time that us gamers, manufacturers... whoever decided to go for higher standard resolutions. No way in hell 1080p is standard today. 1680 barely is.

You guys keep forgetting that old CRT monitors have always been able to climb that high on the resolution ladder. They have no upper limit (of course they do, it's just that the computers haven't been powerful enough. Now that they finally are, we've scrapped the CRTs... )

No development running from 04/05 would even have considered this. I'm still reading up on this, but the GPU series of that time don't even look like they were up to running the "back then-Gen" at those resolutions that are standard today. there's a lot of Half-Life 2: EP.2 in 1600x1200 and 1920x1080 running at insane FPS. but Crysis always seems to be kept from the high resolutions and when they're there, it just dips too far. It does make me want to play Warhead though...
