I'd love to but there's the problem of him living half way across the world from me.

That's like the people who don't understand anything about computers who play on consoles.
WELL, this one time. I asked the art teacher how to Alt-Z/undo in Photoshop, since it would only undo once. He said there's a setting in history or something and I asked him why doesn't he change it. He says some bull that I can't remember. Something about how extending the history would use a lot of the computer's "power" and slowly destroy it.
Is it true that if a computer works hard long enough it will break? Not overheat, but break.
If a computer is well designed, proper cooling and all, you can run it a 100% CPU for a while and there will be either no or no substantial damage. It's another story if you overclock the thing...
It wouldn't break. Unless Photoshop had some massive memory leak...

I guess if you're doing more than you should but it would surely crash before that. I don't think you could actually do permanent damage.
I now have 2 monitors, I wonder how long it'll be before the people I live with ask if I have 2 desktops now.
I've got... way too many of both. v:v:v

EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME I BRING FRIENDS OVER:
They see my two monitors.
"YOU HAVE TWO COMPUTERS WOAH COOL!!!!!11!!1!1!"
"No, they are hooked up to one computer."
*boots up computer*
*moves program between monitors*
"DUDE YOUR TWO COMPUTERS ARE HOOKED UP TOGETHER????"
I don't even answer until they see the mouse move from one screen to the other and braingasm

He's contradicting himself.
11. Mac is a nicer paperweight
This one is a bonus point. I don’t really get the paperweight joke thing, but it always comes out in every flame war between Mac and PC fanboys. But even if PC users called Mac “a very expensive paperweight”, Mac is still a nicer paperweight considering the product design.
2. Macs produce better advertisements
From Ridley Scott’s 1984 “Big Brother” to the “Envelope-thin Macbook Air” to the “Mac vs PC“; either in print or in multimedia; all Mac advertisements that I’m aware of are artistically designed and professionally produced. Many has become classic and iconic. You can see the proof by looking at some of the many parodies out there.
How many PC advertisements can you remember?
A lot.

so many that I can't name all of the good ones, for starters.

Really uneducated writer here.
You can't compare an operating system made to work on only one set of hardware to something made to work on anything.
Windows works extremely well on an apple computer because apple made an ideal environment for windows.
[editline]01:13AM[/editline]
Anyone who calls a Windows machines pcs and Apple machines Macs are wrong.
Last time I checked they were both personal computers.

If you wanted to get technical, sure.
However, it's become widely accepted that the term PCs applies to a Windows machine, while Mac applies to an Apple machine.

But in all seriousness what defines a computer, couldn't an ipod touch be considered a pc?
Yeah in fact it could.
A computer is defined as a machine (maybe not the right word here) that can take input and give out.
Here's a computer for you:
BUTTON -> BUS -> LED
At least that's the definition our teacher gave us.

I don't really see much of a point in having two monitors, can someone enlighten me on this?

1. Say you're progamming something. You have studio, notepad++ or whatever on one screen and references on another.
2. Recreating a picture in Photoshop. Photoshop in one screen, reference picture in the other
3. You browse while having a chat client open. Browser in one screen, chat client in the other.
There's so many useful things to do with a second monitor.
My mom once made me turn of my computer, when her computer shut down just after startup... Somehow my computer was; "Sucking the internet away"

Im going to get a new monitor, this one that i am using now is an old CRT monitor, does different monitors with different resolutions work together?

you see, the internet is a series of tubes, and with multiple computers it becomes all too similar to a double-hosed beer bong.
She doesn't pretend to know things about computers, so she doesn't really fit into this thread, but it's sort of funny anyway. I just turned of the screen anyway.. After a couple of minutes the computer didn't shut down and she said like "See", I then turned on my screen.

Yeah I have a Dell 17inch and a Samsung 21 and something inch.
I just use my two to watch a movie on one screen and play my fav MMO on the other.
I'm lucky to have a moderately computer literate family. My dad works with computers for a living and I'm going to build my first PC with his help when I have the money and my mum isn't literate but knows the basics and what not to do. But then theres my stepdad, oh dear. My stepbrother and I were teaching him to use facebook, but after being told theres 3 different ways to talk to someone he gave up saying it was too complicated. Also he didn't even know you could copy + paste until I did it in front of him :saddowns:
I also tried teaching him to play Timesplitters 2 once. Funny stuff :v:

When I render something overnight in Vray, the CPU usage is 99-100% all the time.

He doesn't really deserve that hardware
