Oh great, Remember that kid who used the illegal cs3 master collection, The one I got caught, Yeah he's asking for my serial key and wondering why I'm not giving it too him.
Because Dell isn't an ISP?
I'm saying explain it to him. I wasn't asking.
Oh great, Remember that kid who used the illegal cs3 master collection, The one I got caught, Yeah he's asking for my serial key and wondering why I'm not giving it too him.
What kid? Link?
Complete and utter bullshit, Just because you don't have a 1920x1080 or 1680x1050 monitor doesn't mean it's not a standard.
I know only one person with a 1920x1080 monitor. It's not standard at all. 1280x1024, 1440x900 and 1680x1050 is far more normal.
I know only one person with a 1920x1080 monitor. It's not standard at all. 1280x1024, 1440x900 and 1680x1050 is far more normal.
This. Unless you bought a decent monitor in the past 2 years, chances are it'll be 22" or smaller, with a 1650x1080 resolution or less.
I support tools and paul here. i know a great deal of people with normal sized screens with those resolutions (my own 22" 1680x1050) and just ONE with a 1920x1080 and his rig is a fucking monster. even HE reports shaky performance in crysis and BF:BC2... guess what, it's a fucking Dual GPU 295 in his rig along with a brand spanking i7 *sumthin sumthin sumthin* extreme *sumthin*. he's kicking everything around, but not these two unoptimized games. That was never the real meaning of all this. i was setting up an example and was trying to get across that these resolutions may have been around, but an 8800 or Crysis was never meant to run at these resolutions. you just didn't consider that until late 06/early 07 and by that time, it's too late to adopt. TL;DR of the last two pages or so: Crysis can is notorious for running poorly in relation to what strength current gen systems have BECAUSE they wrapped development BEFORE the HD AGE was really kicking off. the 8xxx Nvidia series and 3xxx Radeon series are the same stories. 1200x1600 was the insane max for stable gaming and 1280x1024 (or 940) was the sensible mainstream and 1024x768 was the average resolution most people used (even though their monitors were capable of more). are we clear now? It's not whether the screens existed but if shit runs with it. and how did we get here?
screen resolution arguments. lol
I just remembered this: My mom grounded me a few years back because she said I was lying about her scree resolution. I told her it was the same as mine. She said there was no way two screens of different sizes (mine was a 17", her's a 19") could have the same resolution (they were both 1280x1024). I taught her a lesson by creating a remote shutdown batchfile that ran endlessly on my computer and told her since I was grounded I couldn't come "fix" hers.
My dad has a four-or-so year old Dell with two cores and a relatively shit old PCI or PCI-E card and insists that my computer (one 2.88 GHz core, AGP 8x 7600 GS, 2 gigs DDR2) should run much faster than his. cannot fucking wait until I get a new computer
your parents ground you over screen resolution arguments? rated hearts.

Crysis is actually optimized quite well when you think about it, and Warhead builds on that. CryEngine 3 is just going to be a lot better. And BC2 is one of the most optimized games of this decade, and yes, the developers certainly did design the engine to be run on 1680x1050, 1920x1200 and beyond, that was the whole point with Crysis. You end up rendering so much geometry and so many polygons that performance gets exponentially worse. And what the fuck is 1200x1600? standard in 06/07 was 1280x1024 for sure
you know no one 1280x1024 is low end and so is 1440x900, 1440x900 is just the 16:9 equivalent of 1280x1024, and 1680x1050 is mainstream while everyone with a new computer and like 7/10 people have a 1080p capable monitor
7/10? Where did you pull that number from? More like 2 or 3/10. [editline]0[/editline] Also, I'm not counting 1080p TV's.
1080p sucks. I hate 16:9. 16:10 till I die (well, once I get off 1280x1024) PS 1440x900 is 16:10, not 16:9 iirc
guys, i know everyones antsy because the post count was lifted but you have to calm the fuck down. more content, less arguing about what was "standard" at a time. theres no answer, people used whatever they did. thats how computers work.
Great, I got this guy arguing with me saying he can run his Alienware m15x for 8 hours on battery while under full load. I hate my job sometimes.
Seriously, WTF! Enough with the damn resolution / crysis wars. This is fucking ridiculous. Every time it looks like the argument is over, some dipshit feels like it's necessary to make a fucking point because his e-penis might suffer from it. This thread is about computer illiterate people who think they know things, not about computer smugs who can't agree on anything. Just because this thread is about computer illiterate people it doesn't mean that every one has to try to prove that some other person is illiterate. These are crazy small mistakes and disagreements not fucking content. So please, do me a favor enjoy your resolutions don't argue over them.
I like 16:9 much better than 16:10, it's supported just as widely, it's as tall as a comparative 16:10 while being wider, and soon 16:9 is going to be more widely produced than 16:10 (read it somewhere, I'll try to cite it if anyone asks) [editline]05:39PM[/editline] calm down bro
I've had a 21.5" 1920x1080 monitor since May 2009, and it was only $200. They're cheap and plentiful nowadays.
7/10? Where did you pull that number from? More like 2 or 3/10. [editline]0[/editline] Also, I'm not counting 1080p TV's.
Steam Hardware Survey
I once has slow, sloppy gaming. High ping and often getting kicked. Well I discovered an easy solution to this problem (Ages ago) and want to share it with you now. We all know that digital technology uses pings with a value of 0 or 100 where as analogue use values 1 to 100. So annalogue signals can be distorted, digital ones can't. So why is your wireless internet slow. Probably the atmospherics or like I have a large metal guirder above my computer. NOT GOOD. You can keep your wireless router and plug in an extra Ethernet cable, but instead of this going to a computer it goes to a wall socket. A wall socket? . Well the digital signals are sent around your house's electricity circuit and into another plug with has an Ethernet cable in your computer. Use existing wiring for wired internet instead of what I had, a large ugly cable along the wall. Whats more is that ANY socket in your home can be an internet pug in, so you can have internet where ever you want, no need for wireless. It is cheap and easy and whats more I now get a download speed of upto (on average (mean)) 450 kb/s which is great Wired internet, without the wires. SORTED
Probably a troll - worth a laugh, though. Source And stop fucking arguing about resolutions. It doesn't matter for shit and you all know it, so can it and move on.
I'm stuck with 1366x768, it's not bad but some games don't support it.
I'm stuck with 1366x768, it's not bad but some games don't support it.
Same. Its not a terrible resolution though.
I'm stuck with 1366x768, it's not bad but some games don't support it.
you can probably force games to support that kind of thing with a handy shortcut.
