Rate me dumb but i thought there was some kind of heat transfer liquid in those :downs:
There is actually, most of the times it is ethanol, it varies though. Once the heatpipe gets hot the liquid absorbs the heat, transfers into a gas, then hits the end of the pipe, and condenses, releasing the heat. So there is in fact a liquid in there.

Quick question that is not worthy of making a new thread, how come moniter PPI's are so small compared to mobile phones?
Perhaps because mobile phones are so small, and would be an unbearably small resolution with that low ppi
Because a monitor is generally further away from your head than a mobile phone, and because they want to keep e decent resolution to put shit on without making 15" phones.

because it costs money
When i was very illiterate about two years ago, i was at a friends house and we decided to go on his pc and i thought it's specs were awesome, though looking back, it has 1GB ram,a 4250,and an athlon 64 with windows vista,
though his computer will always be better than mine :smithicide:
unless you're trying to get a job
Depends on where you live. In Sweden, schools don't give out certifications unless you ask specifically for them, so you're just supposed to know your way around things. Most people do, anyway.
You can just take the exam if you think your knowledge will be enough, no need to read tons of books.
The certification is needed on your CV though, it's not enough to just go "I know computers durp"
There's been talk about a new ISP coming to my area. So I did some research. So far, everything looked good. High upload/download rates, then I took a look at their various policies. One in particular caught my eye.
"P2P programs isn't allowed due to the extreme amounts of bandwidth they consume (I can understand this, to a degree), so, we block them. Another reason you shouldn't use them is because they constantly rewrite your harddrive and can shorten the age of your harddrive."
Wait. What?
Just conning the illiterates. Why don't we start an ISP. PunchNet, for gamers by gamers. Brohoster type site, niche market.

Easier said then done, especially around here, where 2 companies own the cable, phone, and fibre optic lines privately, and charge through the teeth to use them.
Rate me dumb but i thought there was some kind of heat transfer liquid in those :downs:
You're actually correct. People rated you dumb anyway of course. Most if not all heat pipes have water or something similar in them. When it heats up, it turns into gas and rises to the top of the heat pipe carrying away heat. When it cools at the top of the heat pipe it falls back down to the bottom, where it repeats the process.
I just though the copper was a heat conductor and just spread it about. The more you know!

That's a really clever system.
Now, since I don't know much about computers, I was nervous for posting this, so rate me dumb if this person is right.

Yeah. They're dumb. TF2 is built on the HL2 engine, but it's a game that they designed everything new for except the engine.
If they rebuilt the engine, it would have been 20 years.
well, the lines between a mod and a game are not very clear. there's no set point of modification that separates a mod from a game. you can easily call portal a mod, for example. tf2 as well. the only real defining line is whether or not it is sold as a game or not.
A mod required the original game engine. Garry's Mod, needs a source based game. Many mods do. Pretty much all. Now, a game contains all content in itself and can have mods based on it (engine dependent)

I facepalmed when I read the sentence. They've since changed the wording to make them sound less stupid. The ISP is ran by an older couple. I suspect one of their kids went "Hey mom/dad? This isn't true".
I wouldn't mind running my own ISP, to be honest. Unfortunately, it seems most of the smaller companies buy their internet from the larger companies. For example, my internet is provided by a local isp company. However, if I do an internet speed test, my isp shows up as being at&t.
I saw on QVC they were advertising a £798 PC, And it came with a blu-ray drive(Which probably makes up six hundred of that price) And they claimed it can run any DVD/CD and can burn normal CD's/DVD's.
1. The blu-ray system atm can only burn blu-ray DVD's.
2. Who even burns anything nowadays with thumb drives?
3. Why would you want blu-ray? It's such a limited format right now.

Quite a few people still burn disks.
I also saw them marketing this peice of tat mouse that detected air movements "Like a wii(Pronounced Wy) joystick" I just pictured the young executive accidentally bringing up hardcore scat porn he had in the middle of a presentation while using that.
