why are you using VGA at 1920x1080, gonna look like dick
Hey, remember we already talked about this in my thread. Lots of monitor setups have no loss of quality when using VGA at 1920x1080.
You deserved it. They block cmd and regedit for a reason, so people like you can't fuck around.
In my high school they tried to block access to the actual computer hard drive so you couldn't fuck around on it. However I figured out a pretty neat workaround.
I would open the Windows help center and search for "Paint". They removed Paint from all of the start menus, but the help center had a button you could click that would open it. Then you could click open and Paint would have the default save directory set as somewhere on the hard drive. Luckily in Windows you can do most Windows Explorer commands in an Open/Save dialog so that let you use Paint and a sort of Windows Explorer for the C drive.
at 1920x1080 you should indeed see a difference between VGA and DVI. VGA is analog, DVI is digital. at a certain point/resolution, the picture quality in VGA will begin to drop, somewhat sharply, as well. i believe it's at about 1600x1200 where quality drops. with VGA it's just sending a picture of a frame, with DVI, it's sending a frame of pixels, etc..
HDMI is far more advanced than DVI, you can control a wide selection of devices through one device over HDMI, and with the new specification, 1.4, audio will transfer between all of the devices so you can have, for example, a blu-ray player directly connected to the tv, then the tv connected to the audio reciever, and still get the sound out of the receiver. you can also share an ethernet/wifi connection the exact same way. all of this is totally irrelevant to this discussion, however, as HDMI is neither DVI nor VGA.
can you just
stop
So, today in the morning i went down to starbucks since i can drive with a parent now... Our starbucks is pretty big, it was filled with people on apple products (people sitting listening to their ipod, on their macbook, 2 guys came in with ipads and started reading the washington post. So I brought out my dad's 1300s era laptop, it had a Celeron D in it. And I had f12 installed on it, clean, just installed it, i hadn't even done anything to it, just made an account. so i assumed the kernel was out of date. So, I put the background on a space picture, opened terminal and set the settings to what I like (green + 30% transparency).
This guy starts looking over my shoulder, and I didn't notice it until he bursts out yelling. But it basically went like this
Me:
"su
sudo yum update
<texttoupdate>
y"
Guy: "OH MY GOD, EVERYONE, WE HAVE A HACKER."
Me: "What?"
Everyone: "WHAT? OH GOD, ARE OUR COMPUTERS SAFE?"
Guy: "Wait, FALSE ALARM. He's on a windows."
Everyone: "Oh... phhbt, idiot, using windows."
I had an employee come up to me and ask me to leave because he thought i was endangering his business. So I left and gave him a dirty look when i got in the car, my mom was pissed off until i explained on the way back how they're a bunch of illiterates.
I fucking hate starbucks and mac users, today was a horrible day anyway. Internet died and I had time warner come out here to tell me I need to upgrade my modem, they made me pay $50 for a new one, i called customer service and they refused to put me on the line with their supervisor, so i gave up

That story sounds extremely fake
That story sounds extremely fake
I didn't believe it happened, i thought the people who make problems only existed at school
A lot of these stories sound extremely fake.

I'm not the guy who did it?
You've got to remember, that's a group of overclocking professionals and those systems rarely run for more than ten minutes. This was some 13 year old kid playing Garry's Mod.
why would you dump so much money into overclocking when all you do is turn it on for a little while to show off how good it is at first glance?
[editline]1:11[/editline]
ah, this is what people did before they had Crysis to compare framerates on.

Its a hobby.
Closer to ever day. I currently count six threads that are less than one week old asking for some sort of aid with some issue with Linux installation.
pretty sad, Linux has gotten to a point where it's so idiot proof that you can put the installation disk in your ass and it will still install and run perfectly on your computer.
unless you got a broadcom wifi card, then you're just fucked.
There are a lot of programs that make coding easier than their Windows counterparts, and they are all free. They don't magically impart you with knowledge of how to program, but they just have useful tools that make things much easier. Code::blocks would be my favorite, but there are assloads to choose from. Linux was made primarily by a bunch of nerd programmers, primarily for a bunch of nerd programmers.
I've never understood why Linux has such problems with Broadcom. Are the drivers proprietary or just that shit?
the rougher the surface area the less contact it has with the heatsink which means less heat transferred, lapping means more surface area contact, more heat transferred, lower temps
and will only lower temps, thermal paste is there to fill the gaps in the rough surface to make contact with the heatsink better, too much paste acts more like an insulator

Combination of both, really.

Crack and Weed ARE cheaper.
Crack and Weed ARE cheaper.
But you can't tell 15,000 people that you take crack and that it makes you high for 4 hours.
"I don't need a password, I gave up porn a long time ago!"

Bullshit, You can't give up porn. The old man's lying.
Back when I was in grade 4 some kids tried installing Firefox onto the school computers. After they were found out, no one could use the computers for about a month because the computers had the "Mozzarella" virus. Since I was computer illiterate at the time I believed them and refused to even visit the Firefox website until I was over at a friends house and saw them using it.
I remember something like that happening Sevenx. At my middle schools library, someone set the desktop background to some porn image and the website home page to some porn site. It just shows you how incompetent the techies they hire at the school are that they cant change the background back and change the homepage.
Sounds fake, until you think about how a semi-literate person who's read some articles on Wifi hacking could misinterperate that.
At our local library, me and this idiot changed all the computer backgrounds to a picture of this fat man naked. SO they turned the computer off and put a sign saying Out Of Order on the screen.

gas this thread now
not really a case of computer illiteracy
At our local library, me and this idiot changed all the computer backgrounds to a picture of this fat man naked. SO they turned the computer off and put a sign saying Out Of Order on the screen.
This would more than explain how often computers go 'out of order' at my school.
Funniest thing that happened at my school was in my engineering class, some kid put a picture of a vagina as the wallpaper on the projection computer. So my teacher proceeds to log in and boom huge vagina looming in front of the class. So he turned off the projector and copied the file and logged into a student account. Thankfully the student who set the background made it the default wallpaper for all accounts on that PC.
Just saying I'm a Mac user that use to be a Windows user. Not all of us are pompous bigots, and I have no problem with any other operating system. :v:
When I was 10 in primary school, the teachers had setup a network folder for students but forgot to set permissions. So it ended up every deleting each others work. I kept creating .reg files and shit in there. Many lulz were had.

Reminds me of the time somebody in senior year changed the homepage to some animal sex site. First one to log on and see that? One of our teachers who was close to retiring. Seriously, she was like 63 or something.
i call dibs on v6 "my monitor is spewing smoke but i didnt turn it off yet"
Nono, I already called V6 to be named "My graphics card is clocked at 11:00 AM!".
At work yesterday I had this fat bitch come in with her sister and two children. Instantly the two kids start screaming and knocking down the displays. The fat one finally chose a laptop and I was talking to her about anti-Virus and she looks at me and says: "Viruz? Compooters can get a viruz? Don't lie to me azzho!"
She didn't think virus' existed for computers...
why are we calling new thread titles on page 14? :raise:
