yeah
For me it was
-The wicked nice trackpad
-The really good design and portability
-Optimized for OS
-Simplicity
I'm not an mac fanboy, i have a huge gaming computer with windows. Macs are good for casual use. Windows is good for nerds, gamers and customizers.
Macs are way more expensive and Windows is still pretty simple, therefore, Windows is better for casual use.
Linux is better for nerds and customizers, there's so many types of Linux and each one can be tweaked to your liking.

Price has nothing to do with what you do with it. And yeah i agree with the linux part, but not many people use it
If you're looking for a computer for just casual use, like web browsing, you don't want to drop tons of money for it when you can get a much cheaper computer that will do the same thing just as well.
Macs, in some cases, can be better for art and the like. I know of a guy who makes music, and some of the programs he uses aren't on Windows nor do they have Windows equivalents, so he dual boots.
At my school we cannot even right click.
We have this thing called MOE: Managed Operating System.
I was sent up to the principals office for complaining that my hacking tools are gone.
I asked the teacher why right click was disabled
[editline]10:35AM[/editline]
I seriously don't get the reasoning behind that...
What's so wrong about right clicking? Right click is also mandatory for certain applications...
You can right click in word and stuff, but not on the desktop or on the clock and stuff. Which is a pain, becasue they charge for printing, and you have to right click on the icon to see your balance

every person that owns an android phone runs linux

My brother doesn't, my friend doesn't, my cousin doesn't, my mom doesn't

:crossarms:
You mean they don't want to become the most used and bought OS in the world? Steve Jobs is truly a genius for employing that mentality.

I remember when my dad never cleaned out his old pc and it smoked to death.
So my pastor bought an iMac. Why? Because everything's built into one unit (except the mouse and keyboard of course).
I showed him that pic comparing an iMac and a Dell XPS desktop, and what happens when the webcam breaks.
It was on my phone and I can't find it in My Pictures, so if someone could post it I would be much obliged.

Congratulations! [sp] On becoming a gold member! [/sp]
Well, my dad isnt a complete illiterate but he dreams up the wildest things. The usual stuff like games will get you viruses, IE6 is better, safer and faster than any of your newer browsers.
But his time shit just hit the fan. Due to his constant arrogance we haven't gotten a new computer since god knows when. And now he sat me down when i tried to convince him that we need a new computer and he told me with a straight face that this computer is the best computer and it will stay new for the next 6 years at least.
It's a P4 with a 6200 AGP and IDE drives. The C:/ drive is about 20 GB and XP takes the majority of that, its also a VERY old drive than makes this annoying constant whirr and sounds like the computer is writing to a floppy.
GOD DAMNIT.

Do they own an Android phone? Because Android uses the Linux kernel.

Well it wouldnt be an all in 1 if everything wasn't built in
What do you use it for that you couldn't use a windows machine for? Just curious about your reasons not trying to start shit.
I wan't to keep this as simple as possible.
I love it's simplicity. No problems with drivers and such. I'm not a hardcore gamer and I occasionally play the games on my steam account.
I have a home studio. Being a musician everything feels so smooth and right in the OS X interface.
I'm not a neat freak, but I do believe in organization. I don't know why just the interface alone and organization, window management, etc has always appealed to me more.
When I log onto my mac all the little programs I run make it lightning fast to navigate, or well lightning fast for me. To not have virus software popups all over the place is also a bonus.
I'm not trying to be a fanboy. I'm being articulate with my reasons on why I prefer OS X over Windows. I am in no way bashing Windows. It's just not the system for me personally.

You should have told him this: No offense, but that's wrong, this computer is old and it's can't fully do what most modern computers can.
Or,
No offense, but you don't know what you're talking about.

Then you obviously don't know my dad. He parades around like he's the king of the universe and I have to clean up his mess.
Someone once asked me how to convert a ZIP file into an MP3, because they had downloaded a song or something.
:raise:
I never have antivirus popups... Or driver issues...
Everyone (Who has a mac) has this at my school:

(JPEG Raep).
It's the reason why the macs are so goddamn slow in our maclab.
What is your secret? Ubuntu hates my Broadcom card. I can get games working, but I need my wifi!
I said fuck it and got a PCI Edimax wireless card, the comments said it worked out of the box with Linux, and hey it did.
I hate USB for that sort of thing anyway.

I absolutely hate USB bandwidth.
I'm not 100% sure, but I would think that hackintoches are unreliable because of driver issues...
Oh god I don't think I can handle anyone saying "hackintosh" any more. A kid in my class always said he had a "hackintosh" trying to sound like he knew anything about a computer, while when he talked it sounded like he had balls in his mouth (or the plug on the power cord of his mac, he so liberally shared with us).
He was having a hard time grasping the concept of video games too. While I don't want to start anything big over this, its not a gaming platform no matter how much someone tries to explain windows emulation to me, and he didn't understand any "entertainment value" or why anyone would want to take up precious hard drive space with it. EXCEPT FOR STEAM NOW LOLOLOLOLO (which I told him leaves him with no excuses to not try a video game for once. He got mad and probably almost started crying. He does that a lot.)
I would think using anything modified would have driver issues unless someone could write drivers for an OS to work with another system it wasn't meant for.
Also, Mac OS is unix based, is it not? Same kid in my class insists it isn't and that I'm just full of shit.

He's right in a way, it's not Unix based, but it is a Unix-like operating system. It's more closely related to NeXTStep and FreeBSD. But to say it has no roots in Unix at all is pretty nitpicky.
Apple doesn't allow their OS on any other platforms because Apple doesn't want to go the way of Windows.
Well assuming you have an intel processor and a gpu that you can get with macs you can actually use the retail disc. Not illegal just against the EULA.

I didn't think you were dumb before, but this takes the cake.
Well it wouldnt be an all in 1 if everything wasn't built in
Then your Mac isn't an all-in-one, the keyboard and mouse are still external. The only TRUE all-in-one I've used is the Commodore PET,

This shit had everything you needed to run it in one metal case. That's a true all-in-one.

Thank you for clearing that up. I guess I would be wrong in a way, but he was being so damn annoying about it.
Now how about the older Mac operating systems? (OS 8 or 9 for instance) Are they in the same boat or are they actually Unix based?
