It just pisses me off how it some-how ends up in your computer by putting it in another installer. Its sneaky really
Such as? Norton never bothers me, and i got rid of the trial once, and it was really easy.
AVG works alright, but personally I prefer Avira. Both are free and work just as well as any paid av I have ever had.
The only reason i don't like AVG is that i turn on my computer at night and "YOUR MOTHER FUCKING VIRUS DATABASE IS FUCKING UPDATED! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"
The only reason i don't like AVG is that i turn on my computer at night and "YOUR MOTHER FUCKING VIRUS DATABASE IS FUCKING UPDATED! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"
I had to turn off sounds on Avira for just that purpose.
Same on Avast!
Holy shit guys. I read the above stuff and got paranoid that Norton was on my computer. So I went into the start menu and searched "Norton" Guess what. It was there. [editline]11:47AM[/editline] I fucking hate Norton.
o fuck thank god i dont have this mythical norton.
Your avatar, that's pretty much what Norton does.
But you still haven't gave a reason why it's bad, rather then just saying it's bad, how about giving a reason?
But you still haven't gave a reason why it's bad, rather then just saying it's bad, how about giving a reason?
Oh what's that you're playing TF2? Well screw you bitch, I'm going to run a virus scan right fucking now.
Norton is fine if you got a free trial (Like I did with my motherboard for example) however there excists much better alternatives that are completely free, fully and no trial.
If Norton is like AIDS, then the trial is HIV.
Avira, Avast, and Microsoft Security Essentials have all been shown to protect better, and are free, and scan faster/ use less system resources. There are yearly tests where they compare them all, and the free ones are awesome.
Em, why the Norton bashing? The latest Norton was an absolute hit and received very good reviews with nearly all of it's aspects being the better than others or second best. The old Norton (2008 and below) was the VERY bad anit-virus software you guys talk about, but for 2009, they took everything back to the drawing boards for it.
Avast 4 life
I'll stick to Avira myself. Simple to set-up and always catches viruses. The viruses are another story all together; Google REALLY needs to check their ads before hosting them. The last dozen or more viruses Avira has found came through Google Ads.
Microsoft Security Essentials really simple.
Lol, Ashens, you've done it again. Nice rabbit case mod.

Used Norton until my subscription was up, didn't have any problems uninstalling, don't know what you guys are whining about. Switched to AVG, its silent (no voice), runs light (doesn't hog my resources), and it only pops up when it finds something. Otherwise, I don't notice when it updates or scans (because I can tell it to do that when I'm sleeping, unlike Norton which decides to update and scan at the same time 10 minutes into getting on your computer). So for thread content: I was having issues playing my Steam games online (what ever will I do, right?) So of course I start asking around for help. I told them everything I'd tried (resetting my router, giving Steam's troubleshoot report, and connecting with another computer). The first thing I get is that I need to reset/replace my router. I'd already tried resetting, and was planning on replacing because the wireless was being a bitch. I posted the troubleshoot report (which says whether ports are open or not, they were open, I assure you), the next reply is that I need to open ports. I connected flawlessly on another computer, so it definitely wasn't my router. I finally just got around to switching out the NIC, which I figured I'd try, even though I didn't suspect it because everything else online was working flawlessly. Everything started working again, just like it was supposed to, no thanks to anyone else. The least helpful guy got banned. I can't believe how stupid people can be, I mean really, if I list something as tested and working, shouldn't somebody else start on the next step? I also had issues with Source SDK (just all around illeteracy): [img_thumb]http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/ac298/4rawrs4srs/stupid.png[/img_thumb]
Norton is almost malware with the way it hooks into your computer.
Apparently. I hate updating it at my grandparent's house. With their DSL connection that makes downloading take 4 hours alone, then their 8 year old 1.8 GHz Compaq with all the adware and original bloatware and a 40GB hard drive.
If Norton is like AIDS, then the trial is HIV.
Oh, I think I get it, it's because of the short trial, isn't it? Avast an the other free guys motto: "it's not what you can do for me, it's when, how and what i can do for you." Norton: "It's not when i can do something for you, it's when you can get the fuck outta my way... it's when i want and what i want, I'M IN CONTROL HERE!"
My aunt used AVG on her Celeron laptop with 512mb of RAM but switched to Avast and it's the best for her. Quiet, won't hog resources and other things that make it bliss for old folks
