Once upon a time, I installed norton. It kept showing me an error when I booted. Uninstalling just didn't delete shit. So when I tried to remove it, manually, I accidently removed my registry, settings, user profile, apps, etc. So I am happy, that at least norton is gone. I reboot. I see the login screen, all fine. I login... AND GUESS FUCKING WHAT.

My Dad seems to think I'm intentionally out to sabotage computers. He spent an hour trying to print something, screaming obscenities the whole time. Eventually, as the "tech guy", he called me in, so I plugged the USB in to the computer.

Here's the best part:
He accused me of setting it up so he couldn't print his stuff out because I'm apparently a family-hating douche.

I got Norton 2010 free with my Comcast subscription, and I have used the older ones, and yes they suck, but the new one is really nice and isn't resource heavy.

I love how i went to sleep because i woke up at 4am(despite having slept at 2am) And i had deliberately left my pc running to compile a model.

2pm, i wake up(went to bed at 10am) And my pc's been turned off [I]by the fucking button. no less.[/I] and the model compile has corrupted.

My stepdad LOVES turning off my PC by the button despite it probably going to cause a massive hemmorhage of my HDD In the future. Not to mention 3dsmax has been shut off by the pc going off. Making me loose another model i hadn't saved yet.

This is the same stepdad(no shit) who claimed leaving my pc on idle with only Utorrent(I was downloading LEGAL freeware.) running set my computer on fire and that the PSU was hot as shit([I]when it will be because it has been running for sixteen fucking hours. jesus shitting christ.[/I]) Despite me having the left side of the PC open and all fans on full.

He also claims he puts a rag over a knife and jams it down each side of my computer(It's boxed in a little wooden thing in my desk) to clean the dust from the [I]outside of the mother-shitting computer.[/I] I really REALLY hope he realizes if he does that to the open side he's either going to cut wires or get electrocuted.

I'm glad I don't have your step dad, I leave my computer on 24/7 and it will only turn off on a power outage or I need to restart.

I've done that before, when I was to lazy to even install one lol. Oh, and it was on Vista to I surfed the web even went to some websites I was cautious about, and never got infected.

My dad always installed norton.
Whenever i had a virus it didn't do shit about it (This was an older version yet up to date)
One time i was joining a tf2 server to test a new update, and it quickly flashed up saying something like "LOLVIRUS" (closing tf2 in the process) and the pc shut off. Turns out a virus had altered my boot sector from right under its nose. When i eventually fixed it, it also turned out that norton doesn't stop the virus straight away, instead doing something like "quarantining" it and giving you the option to keep it or delete it.

I recently formatted without him making norton a fixture, and went for comodo.
It's rather good.

No it won't. You can convert FAT32 to NTFS, but not the other way around

Assume your external is drive F:
To convert your drive, open a command prompt and type

convert F: /fs:ntfs

Of course, back up your stuff first if possible and don't interrupt the process.
