I would snip that buttsex.
As much as my stepdad/mother are arses about computers. They aren't half nice. It was my birthday today. They got me a card with an orange cat and yellow dog. The punchline is the dog is kicking a computer and the cat is going "Actually i don't think that's what they mean by rebooting your computer!" Yes. that IS very me mum. because i HAVE kicked a computer in the faceplate before. D'awww. [editline]08:02AM[/editline] Not that i'm not grateful. It's just. it fit SO Well i had to post it.
Avast! avira, AVG. [editline]11:56AM[/editline] Oh, Oh, Oh! I got a bit of illiteracy. When people on facebook and myspace buy $2000 Photoshop just so they can make a folder called "ediiiiits" which contains vanity photo's with black and white photo's with shitty text on it.
IF they're gonna do that they might as well get paint.net :v: Also, why the hate on norton? it isnt as bad now.
IF they're gonna do that they might as well get paint.net :v: Also, why the hate on norton? it isnt as bad now.
Because it keeps on doing virus checks every week that slow the computer down. McAfee isn't quite so bad, but still irritating (my parents got me it with the computer, how I long the day when the subscription runs out and I can get something that won't slow things down).

I don't pirate games because it's too much of a chore to get it to work.
you don't seem very nice
I have lost all hope in humanity.
My step-dad had pirated way too many things. He does seem to know stuff, but he lacks the thought process of security since he's pirated both his OS and AV. I'm just waiting for the time when he says that he's lost everything.
a Pirated av... Wow, You can expect that to work can't you...
I've even explained how this can go wrong, and he still uses it.
The thread title makes me feel bad. I blew up a PSU once, because I, for some weird reason, managed to flick the voltage switch. To this day I still don't know how that switch flicked, but it blew up right in my face. [editline]12:32PM[/editline] You know that face that looks like someone just said the most hated thing in the world. That's the face I put up everytime someone even mentions a "virus problem" near me. Especially when I tell them I get no viruses.
Why are we all talking about pirating? :colbert: Also, I happen to know that the nulled version of NOD32 gets it's updates from the trial server, which is only a few updates behind the retail version.
Never pirate games. Steam is worth £13 for the simplicity
I facepalmed so hard reading this thread that my hand went through my head.
Ahh, yes, the old SuperPalm.
Why do people pirate shit? I get that "IT'S FREE!!1!" but why take even the slightest risk of infection or it not working when you can just buy it and know it'll work period? It took me a month to save up for W7 and when I tell people they're just like "lo why don u jus tpirate it?" I guess I like the satisfaction of deserving it.
Piracy of a OS is probably the worst piracy possible due to the risks involved (malware, MS/ Apple getting bitchy and raising security, fucking us who bought it over). But for normal applications piracy is slightly more safe, as long s you don't follow every "LOL U kan G3t PS 4 3!!" video on YouTube, it seems. I still don't endorse it though. There are plenty of free alternatives out there (well, video editors kind of don't have any real alternatives).
I only pirate games if They're not on steam or in stores near me (User was banned for this post ("Hinting warez" - birkett))
In our science class some people had mailed some work to themselves, and needed to present it, since the teacher was the only one with the laptop, they naturally needed to use it to access the school's webmail. Anyway, after asking if I can log on to webmail (I was up first) he goes: "NO, IT IS MY COMPUTER, YOU CANNOT DO IT. IT'S NOT POSSIBLE, YOU SHOULD OF EMAILED IT TO ME" I then asked if he used webmail, "YES" I then asked why I couldn't use webmail then. "BECUASE IT WON'T WORK!"

ITT: Computer illiterate IT teachers who think they know things
ITT: Computer illiterate IT teachers who think they know things
ITT: The most ironic person on facepunch, named after the most useful operation system, gets an overrated number as his post count.
I don't pirate games because it's too much of a chore to get it to work.
not really quite sure what you're talking about, pirating a game is usually easier than dealing with a games bullshit drm
Why are we all talking about pirating? :colbert:
If Facepunch is an american Baptist soccor mom and Piracy is sex... you know why we have to talk about it eventually. we don't want people not to know that following a youtube vid about is stupid as fuck and that Your IP is viewable for everyone else on the same Torrent and all that jazz. better to inform people about prevention than pretend it doesn't exist. TL;DR: we need to talk about this so people don't just get kids without knowing how they did it. I'd rather that everyone here knew how to do it properly than the retarded attitude we have towards it now. Granted it's illegal, i support that, but Youtubing after warez... are you fucking inbred? Also, the last thing we need here are a bunch of people mouthing off about stuff they haven't put their mind into. like todays religions and politics among the media folks. Imagine the "Mass Effect porn simulator" incident, just on this subject... stupid would flow through the streets. It's illegal, we don't allow it here but it should not be Tabu when discussed without details referencing anyones activity.
Your IP is viewable for everyone else on the same Torrent and all that jazz. better to inform people about prevention than pretend it doesn't exist.
There's not a lot of stuff that people can actually do with your ip. They can DDoS you or exploit your client. I don't think that anyone goes and picks random seeders or peers and DDoS them. If you do use a client with big security holes that's your problem. The chance of getting your shit fucked up using torrents is smaller than visiting shady sites. Browsers have way bigger security holes than torrent clients. (Assuming you don't torrent the obvious fakes)
Long ass story about stupid step father
I'm so glad I never come across people like this else I'd end up punching them or yelling at them for being a fuckwit.
I was reading a book on internet crime for a laugh when I came across the "fact"
20% of internet porn is child pornography
:wtc:
