Computer illiterate people who think they know things V5 = I FLICK PSU VOLTAGE SWITCH

I installed steam one day in Computers class because it was kind of like an off-day and the teacher lets us dick around and play flash games or whatever. Later she saw steam.exe and my friend decided to message me saying "hey faggot are you on". I wasn't at the computer when this happened.
So the next day she said the school had a virus called steam and to report if they saw it. Now people talk about how the school got hacked by the super virus called steam.

Install it on every computer and have them all using dummy accounts linked to yourself and every once and a while message all of them saying something funny to get something stirred up.

I just got back in my chair from falling out of it laughing.
From reading this thread, I'm glad that I didn't get Steam until I moved out of my parents house. Sounds like parents/adults hate it. My parents are cool though, except any heath problem my mom traces back to excessive video game playing. :D
My digital design teacher would yell at anybody who was watching streaming video "You'll use up all the bandwidth!". The school has a 50mb/s business connection, I don't think downloading a ~15mb flv file will impact it that much.
I was once at dick smith because there was a sale on with a game I wanted, While I was waiting in line there was an old couple who just bought a new computer (I think, Not entirely sure) and wanted an antivirus, fair enough so this employee showed them the 1 year version of norton 360 which was $110, fucking rip off but managed to get them to buy the 2 year version for $220. $110 more! Fucking hell I clenched my fist, He sold them a shitty antivirus that does nothing but fuck shit up and slow shit down for as much as windows 7 ultimate oem! I nearly punched the employee.

You have to remember that they're trying to make money, why would they sell someone the cheapest shit when they can sell them the most expensive and get a bigger salary?

Heh. It's funny at my school we have a shitty endian firewall with a total network capability of 10/100 what we have is all the routers in the school plug into one main router (all 10/100/1000) which then hooks up to the endian firewall, So picture this. We get a whole class of 30 on one room all on the internet to look up a video. The firewall runs on a simple linux os which is based on a 1gb CF Card it has a total of 128mb of ram, now think of this. all the 31 computers (teacher included now) in a computer room downloading a 9:20 or so video from youtube all at once, not only did it max out the shitty 10/100 port it used all the ram on the firewall because the shitty os it's based on uses 64mb of ram by itself then imagine all these files streaming down through this one shitty filter add all the other computers being used in the school, which at guess would be about 46 all trying to access the internet at once. I had to pull one last trick. The school always have spare parts under the desks the computers are on, old ones but still good. I pulled out my laptop from my bag, said I was going to the toilet and headed off to the small room the servers are in which is where the evil router is hosted, I first connected to the firewall using a spare Ethernet port, with me to check all the network settings, hooked up my 4 port small router I found (decent, 10/100/1000 and all) moved over all the settings and powered down the shitty filter and hooked up the Ethernet cables from the filter from the firewall to my small router and restarted the tiny thing. I came back gleefully and saw all the video's loading, It seems the school hasn't noticed that someone changed over the router, Granted this was a bit bad of me but I've recently been so pissed off at the school that I just had to give a huge F-U to the school.
Yes wall of text I'm sorry but This did happen, I had to sneak around the school. Only people who know what I did was the semi literate (Computer wise) builders constructing our new library, they promised not to tell.

Sure you did.

My sister used to hate Steam. She would pester me all the time whenever the computer acted even slightly slow. She just kept telling me that it was taking up hard drive space and therefore making the computer slow. Ever since I got her into Left4Dead, though, she shut up about it.

Hahaha you are so funny. Maya is so much more prone to crashing on macs compared to pc. NO CLUE WHY.

Uh, isn't that highly illegal?

You should of told them
There's also the issue that you don't get any DNS control, it just makes an iframe. I tried to explain this so they suggested I try a .co.nr instead.
They have DNS now, but I think co.cc domains look better.
You should of told them
If I wasn't buying something I would have.

If I get it his computer is just a laptop, with an external graphics card connected to two screens?
It does if the main HDD with the OS on it has less than ~30-40 GB or so, depending on the original size of the drive.
my old HD only had 40 gigs. :ohdear:

That is one sexy setup.
EDIT:
My mother was having computer troubles the other day. See, she's 50, and is not willing to ask me for assistance because "I wouldn't be of any help". She called Geek Squad or some other we-fix-easy-problems-for-tons-of-cash service instead, and now she's mad at me because I didn't help her.
What a bitch.

It didn't at the time but it's cool they do now. I still dislike free domains though.

Wouldn't there be a massive bottleneck?
It didn't at the time but it's cool they do now. I still dislike free domains though.
Why? I loved getting emails from my college's network administrators about me visiting x23.cq.hk :smugdog: (Was the old domain for my home server)
Wouldn't there be a massive bottleneck?

With the integrated graphics, my score was 1,720. With the 5850 hooked up, I get 12,765!
Uhh
[editline]07:31PM[/editline]
I'd imagine that there is a bottleneck, but it's still an improvement.
Uhh

The bottleneck is the CPU, the RAM on the laptop (Very low clock rate) and the expresscard Bandwidth which is MUCH less than PCI-E.
Had an "interesting" day today. It took me 10mins to figure out why my CD drive in a new-build had a fucked up tray, making it impossible to insert discs.
Id installed the drive upside down.
