Speaking of Dells, who here remembers the explosive capacitor debacle? The real suck part, is that that just happened to be the year my high school decided to replace all 3,000 or so of their computers. Also, I love my Dell Studio 17.
Yeah I remember the badcap days, also dell hit the news recently about that very topic when some documents were made public in an on-going lawsuit that dell is involved with: http://hothardware.com/News/Dell-Blames-97-Optiplex-Failure-Rate-on-Everyone-Else/ 97% failure rate. Ouch.

Edit: Double ninja'd :ninja:
Well DESPITE THE FALLACIES WITH THE EMBEDDED CONTENT, it was still a pretty interesting video. :) It makes me want to film all the old computers I found people throwing away that only had a bad hard drive/PSU and put it on YouTube.
all the old computers I found people throwing away
I once found an original xbox lying around in the street. The dvd drive was broken, no big deal. It is now equipped with XBMC (Xbox media center)
My dad has a dell from 1997 that works fine and rocks a Pentium II
Yep, I still got a Pentium II kicking around. I wish they still built computers to last a few years.
You're stupid, seriously. Acer is fucking garbage for monitors. And you can't compare a sale price to something's full retail price. [editline]12:15PM[/editline] and I have a Dell laptop that's 3 years old and still going but the battery died months ago, although they said it's expected for Lithium Ion batteries to die after about ~2 years if it's in the laptop and charging constantly.
You're stupid, Acer's monitors are perfectly fine. Maybe a bit more budget than Dell's, and maybe a few years ago they were garbage, but they're perfectly fine monitors. Both monitors I looked at were at full retail price at the time. Guess which one I bought? Well why'd you have it plugged in all the time then? Battery life too short? If they made better systems and put a battery in it that could hold a charge for more than a few minutes, they'd be a lot better off. Wait... my Toshiba spends a lot of time plugged in too (apparently not as much as a dell), and its two years old. I don't see the battery dying any time soon. [editline]11:20PM[/editline]
When a company buy's another company they are still separate companies under the same roof, it doesn't magically make the company different and it makes more sense to keep a company you bought going as it is if it's doing well.
If only that were the case.
Acer's monitors aren't fine and your argument is invalid until you've actually managed to use something other than one of Dell's lower end models. No, not a few years ago. They're still the same terrible shit, and yeah no way you got a 22" Acer for $100. I had it plugged in all the time because maybe I didn't really go anywhere that much and when I did it was then left charging wherever I went, stop making stupid allegations. Dell's laptops are great and the battery, when it wasn't dead, lasted for ~9 hours with light gaming and all power saving features off. It's not the problem with the laptop you dolt it's a problem with Li-Ion batteries. [editline]09:00PM[/editline] seems like you have some kind of unjust hatred for Dell, I would call you a fanboy but you're more of an anti fanboy
I've had an Acer monitor for 4 years now, and the only thing that has happened to it is the LED in the power button doesn't work anymore. I've got two others I've had for 3 years and they both work perfectly.

160 degree viewing angle lol

I also have an emachines 21.5" monitor, and it's fine for me. It was only $100 so it was either that or a 19" display. Honestly it's fine for me; I also haven't used many other LCD's though so I can't compare it to anything.
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16824009105 It produces a very nice picture. Better than my 1 year old laptop screen.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001338 I bought this on the christmas sale, 150 bux.
dear god dude
I got it for free, so I'm not complaining. :v:

Its not hard dude. I would have to call you a fanboy for Dell because you just have to argue it into the ground.

So explain to me how is Acer as bad as you say. I have no dead pixels, decent resolution, good color, decent build quality (it hasn't cracked like my old low end 17" Dell monitor, yes I know what a low end monitor is), and I got it at a good price. This must be a good deal. :downs:
MAN I WANT ONE IF I CAN GET SAVINGS LIKE THAT /sarcasm Seriously though, a friend of mine wants one an Alienware laptop BECUZ IT ARE IS ALEINWAYER. He told me he wants it because of it being an Alienware. A 1.3 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, $1000 Alienware. He also wants to play ACII on it. :colbert:
Holy shit-tits! $100! You should spend that on more Alienware! :downs:
Holy shit-tits! $100! You should spend that on more Alienware! :downs:
You could put it towards one of these :downs:: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Gaming_Keyboards/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=330-6214
