It annoys me when people go on about how windows has "so many problems". I've been using windows for as long as I can remember and I've never encountered a problem so bad I couldn't fix it. Only time that happened was when my girlfriend's mother's harddrive burnt out, which was due to its old age, not a windows problem
This. Only time we had to replace was A. a virus (happened twice?) B. Age
So, he plans to make a mod in the UDK, port it to source (and expect it to work) and then port it over to Xbox360?
That was my own post and it was a joke I made in my own thread. Pls read next time.

And there was one that was due to my first computer build having an inadequate power supply but it WAS my first build.
So, he plans to make a mod in the UDK, port it to source (and expect it to work) and then port it over to Xbox360?
No, it's 1. Make a mod with UDK 2. Modify UE3 so that it works as a mod on Source 3. Port it (Source) to 360
Firefox uses twice the RAM of Safari on my Mac but Safari uses way more of the CPU.
Firefox uses twice the RAM of Safari on my Mac but Safari uses way more of the CPU.
Free ram is wasted ram :eng101:
Free ram is wasted ram :eng101:
I'd rather have more free ram [faster] than not much ram free [slow]
I'd rather have more free ram [faster] than not much ram free [slow]
Or you could, y'know, let your OS do it's job and allocate RAM as it is needed? Free RAM is wasted RAM, a program that could be using that RAM, but isn't, could be running smoother/ faster, then whenever you need another program to use more RAM than you have, the OS can take the excess RAM usage from a program and allow others to use it. A OS should always leave a decent amount of RAM free anyway.

So, yeah. as much as i prefer Firefox, Firefox for Mac OS is a retarded bug fest and a resource hog. it's been happening since 3.5 i think. common issue with no solution from the devs. Take a look at the Ram Graph too. Inactive is ram reserved for programs that you usually take in use but aren't running now. this will be the second "section" of the ram to be taken in use. Free is first in use. Active is what currently running user started programs are using and is not usually re alocated. Wired is the ram the OS and non-user tasks are using. forbidden area lawl.
My parents recently bought my 4-year old sister a brand new PC, and upgraded it from 2GB to 4GB and a quad-core processor. What does she play? Those shitty games you get from McDonalds. "The games need lots of power" was their response to my countless "WHY"s.
take out the RAM and send it to me. i am 100% certain she won't notice, and it'll be put to good use by the financially lacking.
I still use firefox because the plugins are brilliant.
you know what pisses me off about ISPs? for the past 2 weeks my internet has been on the fritz (for some reason, maybe half of the websites i frequent dont load. facepunch works, yay). i guessed it was an issue with the ISP's DNS servers or something, im not too well versed in the inner cogs of the internet, so after much MUCH fiddling with firewalls, browsers, and my modem itself i gave their support a call. Horray! after bearing the automated call center and elevator music for nearly an hour, it was fixed! for about 10 minutes. then it got screwed up again and i didn't have time to call them again because i had to leave the state for my uncle's funeral ( :*[ ) the next day. now im back and going to give them a call in the morning if they take calls on weekends. ISPs. why do you torture me. how does an isp go about screwing up like this anyway? anyone here work in that field and know some about it?
Set your computer(s) to use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for your DNS. http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/ :3
^ Google DNS was slow for me, so I switched to OpenDNS 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 http://www.opendns.org/
Wow. That is pretty bad actually.
Ram management or the sick Ram abuse by Firefox? AFAIK this graph is more of a simplified overview for somewhat tech heads so we know what's up. as for the FF abuse... it's horrific and should be fixed.
Not really illiteracy but I was wondering if anyone else felt the same... The bane of my existence; Printers, routers, old people.
Fucking Routers, how do they work? There are few things that I can't fix when I go over to a friend's/friend of my mother's/family's house... Except for networking. There is always SOMETHING in the way of their router not working, shared printers not showing up or internet not working when the router is attached. I spent over an hour trying to get this woman's DLink router to work after it lost power for a few hours... Unplugged for 10 seconds? No. Reset to default settings and set everything up again? No. After resetting the modem and the router for the umpteenth time, I got it to work. No matter how confused I think I look, I always get the "Wow, you're good with computers and stuff" reaction when I leave.

I don't know what is going wrong there to cause that, I mean it isn't exactly light in Windows either. But that is ungodly.
hey my friend is having a problem, he is trying to run a game on his dual core processor but both cores are trying to run the game causing it to BSoD. How can I turn off one of my two dual core processors?
Search MSConfig.exe and open it. Click on the boot tab. Select advanced options and change processor boot as you see fit. Restart the computer and continue on with your general usage of said personal computer.
Firefox with 4 tabs open is only using 387,570K of ram at this point in time.
Guys set 'config.trim_on_minimize' to true. It helps a little bit with Firefox's memory issues.
