I just put so much efford into that new topic.. :eng99:
Let's just leave it open and save it until later
why would you have to share yours? it didn't take too long to install w7 for me :p maybe an hour or two tops
Mine didn't even take 20 minutes. also, 500th post
Just password your windows account and lock or log off your pc when your not around.
I started doing that, a close family friend of mine had a habit of coming in here and just doing whatever the fuck he pleased on my desktop or laptop, i blocked them both, bitch doesn't even try anymore. and even when im around, he just sits on the other side of the room with my laptop leeching on my wireless, most times at night i go to check on the history, what do i find? a stupid amount of porn downloads (and he tells me he's downloading sims 3 patches, my ass) and other shit from iffy download sights loaded with viruses, i always find at least 10 trojans every day. i set my wallpaper today to "DOWNLOAD MORE PORN AND YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT EVEN COMING IN HERE, ALSO, STOP PICKING YOUR NOSE AND STICKING THAT SHIT ON THE BOTTOM SIDE OF MY DESK, DO YOU THINK I'M FUCKING BLIND?" let's see how he reacts.
I hate people who use Safari over Firefox because they don't know what it is. :sigh:
Safari's sort of acceptable because it's a decent enough browser. IE, however, isn't.
I hate people who use Safari over Firefox because they don't know what it is. :sigh:
Using it because you're a dumbass and don't know the difference is one thing but Safari isn't a bad browser. I'm sure it uses less memory than Firefox does in almost all situations. At least Safari has addons now too. What's worse is the people who think IE is the best browser ev0r created ev0r because M$ made it. [editline]10:40AM[/editline] Also, a significant amount of job applications on sites don't support WebKit browsers. Talk about douchery. Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Time Warner, etc. [editline]10:41AM[/editline] Only the job application parts of their sites btw.
In the Apple Store they have to use Windows for O2 iPhone activation. Heh.
I've been to the Apple Store many times and I've never seen this happen. I activated my O2 iPhone with OS X......
IE8 is safer than Safari, but this doesn't make it good.
Not saying you're wrong but where did you hear that?
PWN2OWN, Safari was down first.
PWN2OWN, Safari was down first.
how the...? it's IE. it's got some god awful exploits in it. But anyways, I don't use Safari anyways. but it isn't a terrible browser or anything.
Safari had one problem that apple patched 2 days later. IE has tons of holes and MS don't bother fixing them
PWN2OWN, Safari was down first.
Yes but wasn't it hacked by someone different to the people hacking the other browsers? The guy who brought down Safari had also won three times previously so it isn't exactly a valid test.
I had to reformat my little brothers pc twice last week. He denies anything malicious, but it seems he had a bunch of iffy programs in.

There isn't that many virusses for Mac, so I don't think they bother too much... And to the guy that said that Microsoft do not care; I think they care about it a good deal.

Anything can get a virus. Just because you have a Mac doesn't mean getting a virus shouldn't be something you should be careful of. Plus, they're certainly becoming more popular. Viruses for them will certainly be come more prominent along with the increased market share.

The reason why it takes microsoft that much longer to put out patches is because of the insane amount of regression testing they have to do. If you don't understand what that means then you've got no business commenting on their patch/fix lifecycles.

That's cool and all but uhh... other browsers patch exploits all the time. They do regression testing as well. It doesn't take that long. Plus, M$ has tons of employees dedicated to IE and yet it still has huge security holes. Let us not forget the lack of support for anything new. No CSS3? No HTML5? Sorry, if it can't get with the times, it shouldn't exist. IE9 is an improvement but it's taking much longer than it should be taking. [editline]12:49PM[/editline] But yes, I'm sure they need to do more regression testing than other browsers because of the way it's integrated. It's still no excuse.

Firefox, Chrome, Opera et al are all unburdened by this requirement. And I'm not defending IE, it's shitty imo and I'd never use it unless I'm forced to (like at work, unless I vpn home).
Don't fuck with ATI Rage cards, they are fucking indestructable. I still have one working after all these years in use.
That's because they're build with RAAAAGGGEEEE

Speaking of people installing shit on your computer or doing more than what they should do with someone else's computer. A couple of years back, I had a buddy from high school come over. I think we had some project to do. The project was piss easy so we took our time and goofed off a lot. At one point I have to leave my room to go to the bathroom or something. When I come back I see him in the process of install this game called Dofus on my PC. I canceled the thing and got really fucking mad at him. He didn't touch my computer ever again. Seriously, some people have no respect for other's property. I don't get this problem anymore. Gotta love my Arch install. I'm running openbox and tint2. Whenever I leave the computer and I know that people might want to fuck with it I simply change to an empty workspace. So my desktop looks like this: [img_thumb]http://a.imageshack.us/img844/3663/201007281446041280x1024.png[/img_thumb] Most people don't know what the fuck to do and my buddies that are familiar with linux and know my shortcuts can't do shit because they don't have my root password.
Yesterday my brother set a password on only account on his computer. He forgot it and now we have to reinstall windows on his computer and I have to share mine. Sharing isn't fun.
Get a Linux live-cd and reset his password. There are tutorials on how to do it everywhere.

IE8 is the most used browser in the world, so if you were to hack something; "IE8 is the most used, alot more insecure than other browsers, besides Safari, but browser doesn't have that much of a market share... Hmm... I'm gonna choose Google Chrome since that was the only one still standing after the pwn2own contest, that sounds piss easy!" I guess not.

Sister walks up to me and says:
I'm getting a blue screen with white text. How do I fix my monitor?
