My teachers have macs and some students too, I bet they don't even know how they work
How does it go with the Mac guys you're sitting around with?
Student: Macs are better than PCs.
Me: No they're not, and PCs are really Windows.
Student: Macs ARE BETTER THAN PCS!
Me: How?
Student: *pauses* You don't have a big tower with Macs.
It was actually aimed at Dai, but wth...
At my school we have these stupid power strips mounted to the backs of the desks where people are trying to walk. Here's a hint: You can't fit between a chair someone is sitting in and the desk without bumping power plugs along your way. Anyway, its a terrible design. Most of the plugs are broken, missing the third ground prong and such. I was trying to walk through and accidentally knocked out the plug for one kid's monitor. He started whining at me that I'd apparently "broken the entire computer and it would never work again". I plugged his monitor back in. He then resumed using his macbook pro he'd brought to class that day.
Why do all the illetrates get macs and I don't get a MacBook Pro :saddowns:
Last week we had a woman come in who said her computer was really slow. I asked her how old it was, and what operating system was on it, and she said she got it nine years ago with XP. Knowing that the reason behind this was probably the age, I told her it's probably because of both age of the computer and the fact the programs that are on there are taking up what little RAM is on the computer. To this she replied, 'It can't be that, it's got all the Gigabytes on there'.
Then later when she came back with it she asked me to help her carry the Hard drive in.
I once used to have a gamer friend who keeps on telling everyone that his dad will buy him a macbook pro. I told him not to but he was like "Noo, Macbooks are for pro's like me". So I stopped and let him cry when he gets it.
2 weeks later :-
Me: So, how's your mac?
Friend: It fucking sucks.
Me: Ahaa..
Friend: I cant even play fucking games on it.
Me: Well.
Friend: It doesn't even have a fucking right click.
Me: I warned ya.
Friend: About what?
Me: That you shouldn't buy that macbook.
Friend: You're just jealous that i got a Macbook PRO.
Me: Install windows on it.
Friend: No I like the Mac OS X.
Me: Why?
Friend: Its so cool it has the letter X that makes it run fast.
Me: So if i changed the Windows Vista name to Windows Vista XYZ will it be faster?
Friend: No, unless Bill Gates does it.
Me: Well, Have fun doing absolutely NOTHING with that shit, you don't even know how to use aperture or photoshop.
Then the next day, I brought my Dell (yes i use Dell) XPS M1330 to school. The same friend came complaining about how sucky my Dell was. So I asked him,
Me: So you think your mac is so good? Whats the processor?
Him: Intel Core 2 Duo.
Me: Ram?
Him: I think it was 2gb.
Me: Oh mine is 4gb.
Him: Fucking liar.
*so i showed him DxDiag on my laptop.
Him: Fuck you.
Me: How much did the macbook cost again?
Him: Rm5600
Me: My laptop was only Rm300 plus Rm200 for OS upgrade and Rm150 for Ram uprade.
Him: So, What do i care?
Me: It actually runs games.
Him: Fuck.
A month later, He sold his mac and gets another overpriced laptop costing Rm4500 and has way lower specs than my laptop. He said it would beat my laptop and make me cry. I guess mine was still better.
*ps : This happened around end of 2008. Also, you might think I am stupid to actually own a Dell, but by that time Dell has a very good reputation in my country and their laptops are made in my home country which is Malaysia. Now Dell laptops are made in cheap plastic factory of China.
MacBook Pro is a good laptop if you have a good reason to get it. If you buy it to look cool and brag, your a fucking idiot

This. If there's a good reason for it, for example iMovie on the go, then getting a Macbook is an excellent idea, otherwise for god sake don't get one because "it's got pro in the name derp"

Erhhh... iMovie is a pretty bad reason, I could maybe understand the buy if it was Final Cut Pro the person was aiming for.

Not my story but whatever.
Client calls in complaining about not connecting to the internet.
CLIENT: I can't get online!
ME: When was the last time you connected?
CLIENT: This morning, now Internet Explorer won't load my start page.
ME: Okay, right click on IE Icon on your desktop
CLIENT: OK..uh, don't see it
ME: No prob...look for the big blue "e" on your desktop
CLIENT: Nothing there
ME: OK...Click on your start button
CLIENT: The what?!
ME: (after biting my tongue)...The start button on your taskbar, bottom left corner of your desktop
CLIENT: I don't see it
ME: OK...Click on My Computer instead
CLIENT: I don't know what that is?
ME: Sir...what do you see on your desktop? Any icons at all
CLIENT: I see my pen, some paper, stapler, the computer
Not quite illiteracy, but I was at a university yesterday (power's out at home, my mom's a lecturer there) and they ask me to set up this p4 dell in one of the offices, saying that it should be fully functional. So I set it up, turn the thing on, and it doesn't detect the hard drive. So I open it up, and there isn't one. so I explain that they hard drive is missing, and they said (yes I know we're all tired of this) "wait isn't that big tower you were carrying the hard drive?" I then explain what the hard drive is, and then I ask what kind of info they keep on these drives, and there is absolutely nothing valuable to anyone, students or otherwise, on those drives, and the drives themselves are only worth $5 at best. everything else was still inside.
I explained that the hard drive was replaceable, but at this point in time, the replacement drive would be worth more than the whole computer, because it really is. p4 dells go for $25 at best these days. So they decided to scrap it. And apparently they have to send it off officially, to some place where they'll take scrap value for the parts, destroying everything inside. I offered to take it, but apparently they cant do that.
Isn't .com an old type of DOS file that windows opens properly anyway?
It's the equivalent of exe in DOS, I think.
It's the equivalent of exe in DOS, I think.
Isn't .exe valid in DOS anyway? A few DOS games i found ages back had .exes in their folders(Talking bout shit like DooM.)
I have no knowledge with Mac software, infact I've never touched a Mac, and I just recently saw a Macbook irl, and so I just mentioned the only software I know for mac besides WoW.
iMovie really isn't better than than WMM and WLM...
Some old DOS games I've seen has .com files, but I guess both are valid.
My friend is building/buying/designing a new PC. He doesn't know what he wants; I asked him the big ATi/nVidia and AMD/Intel questions, and he simply said "i dunno". He's mailed HP, Komplett.no, MPX.no, Alienware, Dell, Acer, Newegg and some guy on eBay asking them what PC they recommend. Of course, HP told him a HP PC, Acer an Acer and vice versa. The computer sites recommended buying parts/and or PCs from their sites.
He finally decided to buy parts and make his dad assemble it. He wants a 550W PSU, one 4550, a case with one 120mm fan at the back, his old RAM (3GB(1x1GB,1x2GB(Which of 1GB still works))). He's gonna reuse his 13" monitor (:geno:) and he's not "gonna bother with speakers".
After I bought my new PC, he told me it sucked and he could have gotten a much better one for the money I paid. I got a Phenom 2 X4 965 Black Edition CPU, a Corsair HX 850W PSU, 4 GBs of RAM, a 500GB Western Digital Caviar HDD, two Asus Radeon HD 5770 GPUs (in CrossfireX), a 24" LED monitor from BenQ and the CM Storm Sniper Black Edition for the amount of money he is spending on some old HP case, some old mobo not supporting the type of RAM he has, a bunch of random expansion cards (like multiple sound cards and firewire outlets), a Razer Deathadder () and a single used 4550.
I told him that I could put together a better build for him, but he called me an idiot and said his PC was gonna "own mine in MW2."
He doesn't even know how open a .zip file.
I can see how that's frustrating, but if he plans on gaming, then what's really wrong with getting a Razer Death adder, (you face palmed at it? :psyduck:)

Razer generally makes bad and overpriced 'gamer' products.

for most of their products, I would agree with that statement, but have you used a death adder? one of the few good ergonomic mice, good tracking, braided anti tangle cord, for $60 bucks? Not bad, but if you're not into the whole light up blue logo you can always get the equivalent logitech for about the same price, that mouse at least, isn't too badly over priced. (but oh god, that new StarCraft II headset for $120, now that's just nuts)

4 Pages of idiocy in a day. Good work. I wish I could pull some stories. I guess I got a few.
Last night I was working on a friend's computer through teamviewer. The thing was like ground zero. He had cleaned up most of the virii but we couldn't get everything. So mainly the project is to get the important shit and blow away both hard drive partitions and reformat with Windows 7. I was screwing around with him trying to find and delete hal.dll to scare him. But it wasn't anywhere on the computer yet it still operated. I checked Windows\ ; Windows\System and Windows\system32. Am I missing anywhere?
Do anybody still have that picture left on that graphic card with it's GPU taken "off"
