shit who cares also speaking of dos I'm useless with cmd call me illiterate.
It's not you that's useless, it's the Windows Command Prompt. Bash is much more useful. (So is PowerShell)

For the people saying Linux is only for people who know what they're doing, I let my mom (who still doesn't understand how the tab bar in Firefox works) fuck around with Ubuntu in a virtual machine and she said she likes it more than Windows because it "seems easier". She was mostly impressed by the fact you can download more or less all the applications you'd ever need in a central place safely. And somehow she understood the concept of a virtual machine in less than 20 seconds of explanation
Transparency and glossy icons is in no way useful. And she simplified it but she's right about, what I guess she was talking about, CPU sockets. Although Intel and AMD don't just switch sockets for the sake of switching sockets.

I don't see the problem with CPU sockets. I built my system anyway and if I actually wanted to change the processor to one with a different socket, I'd replace the motherboard and keep my RAM, video card, hard drives, and system case rather than just throw the whole thing away. Even in a pre-built you can get a new processor so long as it fits the socket and keep everything else.
Except for that horrid CRT flicker, and "black" with an LCD is far better than with a CRT, and improving.
only cheap CRTs flicker. and large patches of black on an LCD sucks, LCD's are only better for text.
only cheap CRTs flicker. and large patches of black on an LCD sucks, LCD's are only better for text.
So my old 21" is cheap? And I didn't say black on LCD was actually good, just an improvement.
So my old 21" is cheap? And I didn't say black on LCD was actually good, just an improvement.
your old 21" probably is cheap. and you're wrong, black on an LCD isn't an improvement.
your old 21" probably is cheap. and you're wrong, black on an LCD isn't an improvement.
My 21" CRT cost about $400. My 19" LCD has a bigger viewing area and it didn't cost $400. It doesn't flicker, the "black" isn't gray (while its not black as there are very few screens that can actually show black), and I'm probably not going to get cancer from it as quickly. [editline]12:00[/editline] And idiots who don't understand "magnet + CRT = bad" can't mess up the color by moving a magnet near an LCD.
And idiots who don't understand "magnet + CRT = bad" can't mess up the color by moving a magnet near an LCD.
that's an irrelevant point because first degauss, and second if anyone ever sticks a magnet to my CRT (or my LCD, for that matter) I'm probably going to kick them out of my house. and $300 isn't a whole lot for a monitor. my 19" CRT cost $600 and has darker blacks and better contrast than my LCD.

600 bucks for 19 inches? crt or lcd, it seems like a a waste of money. how much do you guys pay for your screens? i have a 24" acer LCD and the blacks are excellent in my eyes. it was 100-200$ if i remember correctly.

Well at school I was talking with a few friends on whatever subject, somehow we got onto computers. My friend asked me what brand I have, I said Zac Brand (My Name is Zac by the way), He asked me what I meant. I said that I built it myself. After a while of talking I gave up on the subject. This kid couldn't believe that I built my computer myself, It was quite sad :-(

Guys, stop talking about monitors
uh, your wrong. this screen is great. maybe they were shit awhile ago, but this screen i have is perfectly fine. good color depth too.
no, you're wrong use something better than a shitty Acer and you'll see I'm right
It's funny when my mom has trouble with the computer. She'll call me downstairs to help her, then I start fixing it. I remember when I was around 11-12 years old I went to my friends birthday and installed him Jedi Academy. Then his big sister comes in and "DON'T INSTALL ANYTHING IT COULD HAVE VIRUSES". It was an original copy.
no, you're wrong use something better than a shitty Acer and you'll see I'm right
get your head out of your ass Odellus. theres nothing wrong with this monitor. what bad experience did you have with them? ive used plenty of other monitors, ive seen plenty worse and many on par with my acer. only one really noticably better was this super expensive one a friend had, but its way out of my price range. [editline]06:43AM[/editline] if acer is the worst, who do you think is the best?
Acer is bad get something else.
Agree x20.
