It's really worth it, you will have a big drop in performance if you don't, also look at my friend's[flabber jockey] thread, he is getting a decent PC for £450 if you spend £50 more.

Think about this, the eBay seller is making a profit, whereas if you buy the parts yourself:
1. No middleman to make a profit so you make a saving.
2. You know what parts are going in the PC, so you know they're quality parts, whereas the seller can bung in any old shitty parts, probably got the cheapest motherboard, PSU and hard drive he could find. Cheap PSU's are a bad bad idea, not worth the risk.
As for sites to buy parts from, there's also Amazon.co.uk and Dabs.com
