Black backgrounds can be nice but only if you can get everything with a black background, transitioning back and forth is painful.

(Adjust that brightness control then boy, you are doing it wrong.)
What are you even doing on Facepunch for that matter? This is unskinnably one of the brightest forums I've seen.
I have tried using emacs an vim but don't know how to do anything. I just use nano. I should probably read the man pages. Also, its not black on white. I'ts a little off that.

I just get here, and then either have to close that terminal or reboot the computer, because I don't know how to freeking close it.

And then there's nano. My personal favorite.

so you use cli editors despite the fact that there are utterly superior gui editors on osx?

Sometimes, I have to do it from cli, and it may be faster if I just have to change a small thing. When possible, I connect to my server via samba and edit files in textmate, but If I don't have the permissions for something I have to go in and use sudo <cli text editor> <filename>
Oh boy you can edit the colors of stuff that is totally relevant to programming
