Oh come on, don't be silly. At least we were discussing something that involved both Microsoft and the Linux ecosystem.
Now we're just talking about my Justin Bieber avatar (which is horizontally flipped, by the way, I don't think anyone's ever noticed :) )
Oh that's okay then. If it's horizontally flipped I don't see the problem.

Yeah yeah, I guess that's true. Somewhat. The fact that it took the thread by the reins for a few pages is silly.
[editline]25th November 2010[/editline]
Also, I'm sure it's flipped because of that one unwritten rule of page design that says characters should face the inside of pages.

No, it's just because mrcsb feels the need to obsessively keep his fail streak alive by insulting everyone and trolling. :downs:
Wow that guy up there is bitter. ^^

Aw look, someone's mad.
Wow that guy up there is bitter. ^^
Silly mrcsb, the winner rating is for winners.

So are you for blocking him?
So are you for blocking him?
Yeah, obviously he's pretty upset, because he wouldn't have known I was talking about him if he hadn't clicked "View Post", ROFL.
Sadly, he hasn't yet moved on from this thread, or the contents of my posts. So butthurt...
Stop bringing personal matters in to arguments. I haven't insulted anybody but still argued intelligently. While I find it immature that mrcsb calls people freetards, rates himself winner and thinks his opinion is the end all and that Linux isn't in use in business environments even though Google uses Goobuntu, I respect his opinions and himself as a person.

Well, I haven't been stating opinions, I've been making arguments. Nobody's really made any decent counter-arguments, but I'd be open to them if Facepunchers learned to not freak out when someone challenged their worldview.
With regards to Google, the exception is not the rule. But I admire their efforts, and they do show that it's possible to some degree to be MS-free.

Linux is not used much in business environments such as personal computers, but rather for servers. The amount of non-Linux users highly outweighs Linux users, so yes, Linux isn't in large use in business environments.

Where was that one survey made by W3C that showed the percentage of Linux vs Windows-run webservers again?

Linux really shines on servers and embedded devices, I'd never be foolish enough to doubt that. It just hasn't done so well on the desktop, including business desktops. But it will work better on business desktops because the application set is limited. Google, as Jookia mentioned, has done well with this.
http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_mac/software/games?mco=OTY2ODUzMg
A lot of it's pretty outdated stuff, but almost none of it's available on Linux.
The thing is, people actually care about Macs. Tell someone on the street that you use Linux and they'll wonder what you're talking about.
that's because linux doesn't advertise because it's free xD
ok, lets say i do
pacman -S gnome
and reboot, i'll have a fully working desktop environment?
no you have to write it into xinitrc
This thread is like putting a nail under your toenail and repeatedly kicking it against the wall
Wait, I just gave a valid example of a broad, multipurpose thriving company switching to desktop Linux and you brush it off as apparently the application set is limited? I dunno, I'm leaving. I'm sure somebody who's been reading my posts here agrees with me, and that alone makes me feel like I've won somewhat.

HOLY CRAP ITS MIRRORED.
I feel late.

Yes, the application set is limited. Because you know what? The vast majority of professional software does not run on Linux. This is a fact. It doesn't mean Linux is bad. It does mean most companies can't really use Linux on the desktop. Don't get butthurt over it.
It just so happens that the software Google uses makes it a good company to use Linux.
A ruskie says something stupid, Facepunchers rage at each other.
Meh.
I'm a bit confused as to why people are calling me a selfrater among other things. Most of my points were fine and I didn't devolve to namecalling, so why am I being grouped in with that?
Yeah, Libertas made some similar arguments, but he's not a "pretentious douche", "faggot cockbag", "cum-sniffing fucklord", or any of that shit. He's seems like a pretty cool guy, doesn't afraid of anything.
Personally, as I said in the PM back, I am just fed up of the people having a go at any, each OS has it's uses, and I will use them as such, a Mac, would be perfect for my grandmother, who needs simplicity, however I use a mix of Linux / Windows, and unless something drastic happens, will not be swapping one for the other at all.
Wasn't talking about you, was talking about the PM guy
I think you took it the wrong way
[editline]26th November 2010[/editline]
I was going to read this, but it so far seems mrcsb having a whine fest and rating himself winner.
[editline]26th November 2010[/editline]
AHAHA
Sending me PMs titled rofl with links to dictionaries does nothing mrcsb
Valid points on both sides, but I'm with mrcsb because I work in the industry myself and know how much of a pain in the arse Linux can be.
There's no right or wrong answer, enterprises just happen to use Windows. End of discussion.
