Hey, Microsoft, guess what system is steamrolling the mobile market, including both your stupid Windows Mobile and Apple's iOS?
[editline]21st November 2010[/editline]
[sp]Android is running modified Linux kernel and is highly compatible with it.
It's also open source like Linux and unlike the other two.[/sp]
That's like saying IE5 is steamrolling the browser market.
That's like saying IE5 is steamrolling the browser market.
How?
That's cute, but you're basically wrong. VERY wrong.
Please, also tell why he is wrong. NO U's always run these type of discussion.
Android ripped itself over 10% of the whole market during like two years, and it's steadily going up.

Well, if linux is so good and optimized and magical, how come Microsoft Windows dominate the PC market?
Can you name even one thing?
Cause Linux is free.
So what you are saying is
People prefer Windows over linux because windows costs money,
I see a flaw in your logic. Because if price was the only difference everyone would use linux.
Well, if linux is so good and optimized and magical, how come Microsoft Windows dominate the PC market?

Maybe because windows had first commercial release in 1985, while first Linux, in version 0.01, which was able to do barely anything, came in 1991? By then, after the 6 years of Windows, the market was already formed and occupied. Since it's first release, Linux was only going up, never down.
I don't see any OS dying in the near future
well apart from OpenSolaris
I forgot OpenSolaris even existed, honestly. :v:
If all programs had linux alternative, no one would use windows. The only thing windows has over linux is that it has more programs.
You also don't get that tearing apart the market was never the idea behind Linux. Unlike Microsoft, which needs profit, Linux can keep going with zero profits, which is what went on for most of the time.
It's both the reason why Linux doesn't have mayor share, and why it can't die easily - It doesn't need market share to live.

Go into a random computer shop and pick a random computer to buy. I can almost guarantee it's a windows computer.
It's got nothing to do with preference, it's just what people are given by default. The only way to get a non-windows machine is to buy a mac, buy a linux machine online somewhere or install linux yourself. Your entire argument is completely fucking invalid, the cheapest computers you can buy come with windows from the big OEMs.
FUD campaigns doesn't help shit either.
Well, I was going to try linux to see how bad it actually was, but i did not know what to do with the files and where to place them in the directories of the CD or anything. I looked at some tutorials but they weren't very helpful.
I installed linux once but never could find any use for it so I reinstalled osx86 and win7

Hahaha, oh wow.
I thought I might actually be arguing with somebody with some basic background and credibility.
First googling attempt. It even has FUCKING PICTURES, like for retarded children.
I am done here.

Ahaha oh wow. That's not how it works boy.
Even a baby can install ubuntu. You don't need to move any files from cd yourself.

Well I will try this ubuntu doo-hickey then.

they started out with windows, now they don't want to switch
most people think it takes a certain kind of computer user to use linux, that isn't true because my grandmother uses it
also +1 ignore list

also +1 ignore list for you too
I should stop opening the FurryFlagged posts. I used to believe the stereotype was silly, but pretty much every time I do open them, I regret.

Likewise, That script is realy paying off!
sure explains why all my high-end systems run Linux and my shitty computers run windows.
DirectX
Which oddly enough has only recently supported tessilation, however OpenGL has for years...
Damn, sure explains why I have 5 computers in my house running Linux and 2 running Windows.
Because you have no life ?
Least popular on desktop computers and laptops, not servers.
actually windows 2000, server 2003, and server 2008 combined marginally beat Linux in the server market
or at least it beats the ones that put out an ID string

Microsoft scared most devs into thinking they were going to drop support for opengl years ago, that's the only reason directx has majority share today.
A way to look at why Windows has market share and why it doesn't mean it is better as a result:
Mainstream music has the highest amount of people listen to it. This would represent Windows' market share. This does not mean that Mainstream music is very good, however.
Whatever other genre you listen to that isn't mainstream would represent Linux. You would probably find that you like this more, yet it has a much smaller market share.
Basically what I am getting at is that market share isn't an accurate way to tell how good or useful an OS is.
so essentially unfair business tactics = market majority

automerge
That's like saying IE5 is steamrolling the browser market.
That's because of ignorant people, ignoring obvious security and compatibility problems
Well, here I am posting from this ubuntu bullcrap that broke my Windows XP, whenever i try to start XP i get an error message about chkdsk being gone.
Great fucking work to the asshole who created this mess.
