to be fair this probably doesn't help much seeing as my Arch install is a bit of a mess right now (too many packages etc, needs a good cleaning.) + I'm using a shitty AMD dual core laptop
I need a photo viewer that does automatic looping slideshows in fullscreen without any visible controls, anyone know anything?
I use Mirage, it does what you have requested. You can change the slideshow delay too - but only from a set list, nothing completely customisable.
I'm not sure if Eye of Gnome does what you want, I haven't used it for a while.
[editline]2nd December 2011[/editline]
okay so it does too

I've gotta say he's right :v:
[quote=Torvalds comment]Oh, and why is that "disable accessibility icon" a separate extension? That accessibility icon should have been an extension to begin with. Oh, by all means default it to enabled, but it's really odd how you have to now install that "disable accessibility" extension and then turn that on if you don't need that thing.
Turning something on in order to turn a feature off? Sure, that's intuitive and good UI.[/quote]

neither one start over after the slideshow is finished though. I know mirage doesn't and I'm quite certain eog doesn't either.

Did you enable the setting?
Mirage: Edit->Preferences->Navigation->Wrap around imagelist: Yes
EoG: Edit->Preferences->Slideshow->Loop Sequence.
I didn't have that as far as I know. I'll have to check it out tomorrow, it's for work and I'm off now.
[editline]2nd December 2011[/editline]
I set up SSH on it just in case but I didn't think to check the IP while I was there today. could have done X11 forwarding and everything
Well I'm not sure about every version but it defs works for me with Mirage 0.9.3 and eog 2.32.0
Try it out and see, I guess. If those two don't work for you I'm not sure what else to suggest.

feh can do slideshows as well as doing everything on startup without gui.
[editline]2nd December 2011[/editline]
You can even use it as a desktop background if that's what you're getting at.
I got Code::Blocks working but I was greeted with this:

I should be able to choose a project type here.
So, now what?

What version CodeBlocks is that? It's quite strange. What's even stranger is that the values in the left list box are randomly indented, which they shouldn't be.
Well, they seem to be centered. :v: But I am using Code::Blocks 1.11.15.

If you pick another category from the left, do those work? Try setting 'View as' to 'List', does that have any effect?
Already tried that. Neither have any effect, nor does restarting.
guise, HOW CAN I RESIZE GNOME3 FONTS! TOO BIG, MY EYES!?!
[QUOTE=Lyoko2;33555686]guise, HOW CAN I RESIZE GNOME3 FONTS! TOO BIG, MY EYES!?![/QUOTE]
Problem found: you're using Gnome3.
At-least the Linux Mint team made it somewhat tolerable to use.
[QUOTE=Lyoko2;33555686]guise, HOW CAN I RESIZE GNOME3 FONTS! TOO BIG, MY EYES!?![/QUOTE]
Install gnome-tweak-tool from your distro's repositories and use that to configure the fonts.
I updated my un-updated-ever Linux Mint (either 10 or 11) Debian Edition.
During the installation, large amount of text turned into uniform boxes.
Now, after restarting after something failed, it looks like I'm now using a completely different OS and firefox has transformed into netscape.
FUCK

How do I fix this please help me for the love of god I want sexy back
[editline]3rd December 2011[/editline]
This would be alright, as it is actually pretty slick, if I could [I]find the fucking settings.[/I]
I cannot find anything that might let me change from this horrid, vomit inducing theme back to the incredibly sexy one it used to have
[editline]3rd December 2011[/editline]
Okay, I'm starting to think that the entire mint portion has been taken out and somehow I'm now running basic Debian
What the fuck, man
I'm not sure about your problem but I know Ubuntu tends to fail to load my theme sometimes. I'll boot up and everything works fine, but it just won't have loaded the visual style for some reason. A reboot fixes this for me. In your scenario, I'm not sure how you'd fix the text-boxing issue. I assume you mean that all characters show up as squares, which is probably as a result of either a corrupted font or a missing font file. If your theme is similarly broken I'd postulate that your computer has been set to use a theme that does not exist with a font that does not exist and it's trying to do the best it can to keep working.
I'm using Debian Edition, which is linux mint based on debian, not ubuntu (latest Ubuntu doesn't work with my graphics card/backlight, at least since the last time I tried)
The font thing fixed itself, but it's more that a simple theme change.

The start menu/desktop are gone/inaccesible. There's this "activities" thing, there's a bar at the top, and lots of features that remind me of Mac OSX.

That's default GNOME 3. It's the new interface that replaced your GNOME 2 from before.
So how do I change the theme and all back to linux mint?
[editline]4th December 2011[/editline]
Okay, it looks like it really is basic gnome 3 with a terrible theme. Progress time
Gnome tweak tool is my lord and savior.
[editline]4th December 2011[/editline]
I updated a bit more, got the mint-x GTK theme, and now things are cool
So I had this PC on windows, but a lot of recent powercuts pretty much corrupted it, so I'm on Linux Mint 11. Now, I had a Sapphire radeon 4650 AGP. My pc runs well on VESA, but, ahem, many games I liked don't work that well any more (TF2 in software mode anyone?). I have installed linux versions but these performed even worse.
So, with no other options, I installed ATi's proprietary drivers, but all these did was make me boot into my monitor giving me an "Out of Range!" error.
Is there any hope for me getting official drivers that run better than VESA?
And another quick one: Does a Nvidia 7950gt AGP work well on Linux@
I am using the Desura Linux client, and I just discovered that every few seconds it has CPU usage spikes. It goes from 0 or near 0 cpu usage and jumps from anywhere from 15 to 50.
I managed to fix it by changing a few options and closing the desura window.
Anybody has the same problem?

How did you fix it?
I went into Settings > Performance and I ticked "Unload mainform on close". The spikes are still there, but they go away if I close the desura window. So what I do is that I start the game I want, then I close the desura window.
This is in no way shape or form a true fix as the problem is still there.

If you can tell me the steps you did to fix it I may check out the source and locate the problem.

I hadn't noticed this problem until now, but you're right - Only my spikes seem to be far more frequent, on the scale of every 5 seconds or so. I'm not sure what the problem is and to be honest I'm not really concerned - it's only a small impact on my computer.
I'm using the 64-bit build, build 120.21.
